Thanks, Karl. The toms sound amazing when miced and really cut through the mix. I'm using mics on the kick, snare / hats, and an overhead for the toms and cymbals right now. The lead and bass amps are run through the board also. Our sound man said that the drums come through great.

Due to the fact that we are all older, (I'm 55), we play Classic Rock and Blues from the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Songs from The Beatles, The Kinks, Cream, Mountain, Free, Grand Funk Railroad, early Led Zeppelin, Cheap Trick, ZZ Top, AC/DC, CCR, Wishbone Ash, Gary Moore, Motorhead, plus some original songs as well. The list is constantly expanding. Basically, the tunes we grew up listing to from about 1964 on. If we think a 3 piece band can play it, we'll try it.

What batter heads are you using for the toms and snare? I see you still have the stock heads on the toms. I didn't have much luck with them. The shallow toms are great!

Right now I am using the batter heads that came on the kit: clears on the toms and a coated on the snare. They actually don't sound that bad the way I have them tuned. However, when it comes time to change and funds allow, I will more than likely switch to coated heads for all the toms and snare. Either Remo or Evans, haven't decided yet. Which would you reccomend? The local music store here in North Platte, Nebraska carries Remo, Evans, and Aquarian.

I really like Coated Emperors. I had Ambassadors on the floors but have put the Emp back on the 16 over an Amb to try out. I would like to try some PS3s on the toms. I'm still searching for the right head for the snare. Currently using a coated amb, but had an Evans HD Genera Dry on it. Kick is SKII with EQ3.

I think it's going to depend on the room you mainly play in. I have a small music room, and the coated heads on the toms are good but very bright (mainly the floor toms), so that's why I may try PS3s. In a larger room like my living room or my friend's practice room, the coated heads sound really great. The kick in my room just resonates with beautiful tone, though in a larger room it is kind of slappy sounding, which I may need a PS3 for too (that used to be my main kick head before trying SKII).

Saw you guys play CCR and Cream, my band does a thundering "Fortunate Son" and I seriously recommend (if only for the sexy, SEXY, drum groove) playing Cream's version of "Born under a bad sign." So sweet.

As quoted on the "Band Bio" page of our web site, we try to pick songs that not everybody does, "deep album cuts". In other words, songs that people might not have played a lot. The CCR we have in our set list now is a song called "Pagan Baby", (it's on the Chronical Vol. Two CD).
There are a few more CCR tunes in the works also. As for Cream / Eric Clapton, we do "Spoonfull", and are working on "Crossroads", "White Room", and "Wonderful Tonight".

Everyone that watches us says, "Why don't you ever smile?" I guess it's because I'm so into the songs and I have all that "Hardware" to hide behind, HA HA.
