Here are a couple of pics of an outdoor job I did on Saturday night. As you can see, we played right by the water with all kinds and sizes of yachts sailing by. This is truly a beautiful setting for making music.
The temps were in the low 90s with high humidity. The sweat was just dripping off me as I was setting up, There was even very little relief when the sun went down. We all used fans, which definitely helped. I also was smart enough to have brought several shirts as I soaked them through. All in all, a good nite of playing music with the Rogers drums I love to play.

That looks like a restaurant that I used to gig at in Stuart, FL. Whats the name of the place you were at? Saturday was a hot one buddy, but fortunately we got some of the normal summer thunder-boomers around 5pm.

Cool.
But uh, what was wrong with keeping it in your other thread?

This place is called "The Boat House" in Dania Beach. Much further south, as I'm sure you're aware, than Stuart.

Oh ya... I've been there, just south of the airport across the bridge on the island. My wife and I go to alot of concerts in Sunrise, and we always spend the weekend in Lauderdale area checking out the local music scene. Nice to see a place I'm familiar with on here. Have you ever played the Davie Ale House?

Well...water, palms, the sun, drums. That is just beautiful!
I personally love gigs outside, except when it`s very cold. haha...
Saw the kit already, it`s nice...but what is that ride cymbal? Did it change??
Glad it was a good night for you.

Yeah man, I'm from South Florida too but I study up in Jacksonville where it's not as hot. The weather down here is so sticky without the sea breeze, gigs can get rough during the summer time. Where do you usually gig?

Every time I see your Kit it looks like you have new heads on there...
Do you change them often?

I used to live in Dania FL, but that was about 13 years ago.
I lived about 1 mile away from the beach.
Cool set.

Whoa! Thanks for all of the responses.

60s and 70s top forty, mostly. Easy listening music, a bunch of slow tunes. Middle of the road stuff. Fun and somewhat easy tunes to play. This is a restaurant. People were eating dinner right in front of us.

Nope. I’m kinda, sorta, maybe, semi-retired. I was just filling in for the regular drummer. I may play some more when they need me. I haven’t played too many places around here.

It has changed. It is a 21” Sabian Raw Bell Dry Ride in Brilliant. It replaces a 20” Zildjian crash/ride which does not sound near as good as this one does.
Where do you usually gig?
As I mentioned above, I don’t get out to play much anymore with the family, work, school, bills, blah, blah. I hope to get some more jobs. I love to play.

I DO have a lot of new heads. I used to have a great deal with a music store owner where I got paid with Remo heads. I use Ambassador heads; coated on the batter side and clear on the resonant side. So, to answer your question, yes I change them quite often.

That looks really fine. I don't play many jobs outside in my neck of the woods. I bet your drums sounded cool out there.
You should post these pictures during the winter months and have the 'up north' people get jealous. Ha!
Nice kit. Love the lowest floor tom. 18x18?

Huh? What the heck does that mean? I really can't tell if that's positive or negative.
Oh well, sorry to bump this thread, but "Throws the goat" (?). I don't get it.

this is a googled picture of a man throwing the goat(s), or you might know as "rock on" gestures.
reason why i said lefty? is because i'm a lefty drummer, we are a rare dying breed. it was out of respect.

Ha! Most everyone uses that phrase around here. I can see how you would be confused though.
