View Full Version : Hi-hat Help Please
Currently my church uses this kit (http://mapex.co.uk/products/drums/mb/index.html).The hi-hat stand is too tight and I am trying to loosen it but I can't. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

First, it appears that the link is not working. Next, what do you mean that the stand is too tight? Are you talking about the pressure needed to close the hi-hat?

Pressing on the pedal takes more effort than it should normally do. The bass pedal is much looser than the hi hat. I've just spent the last hour taking the pedal apart. It would seem like there is nothing much I can do about it...

If you took the HH apart literly, you could change the spring for a lighter one.

I have the M Birch, and there's a black component above the pedal on the stand. You can twist this around to increase or decrease tension.

Hey JCM, does your stand have one of these tension knobs? If it doesn't... Les Ismore gave an excellent and inexpensive way of changing the tension. Keep us informed.
I don't seem to be able to get to the spring.
