About Iron Cobra's pedals

Hi there, I am gonna buy a new double pedal and I have been looking for a a Iron Cobra, I know there exist 3 kinds of iron cobras but I dont really know what should I choose. I got a big problem and it is that I am living a very little city so I cant go to any music shop to test them, I would like it to increase my speed so some kind of help would be very appreciate.

They are awesome pedals from what I hear. Supposedly real durable too.

I recently bought an Iron Cobra Power Glide double pedal and I love it. I got rid of my DW5002 and there is a huge difference. The power glide is designed to increase the speed of the beater as it reaches the drum head. I love the added punch that the power glide delivers. It is all about how it feels to you though. I have a friend that bought the rolling glide instead because he did not like the feel of the power glide stroke. These are very smooth pedals. Good luck with whatever you end up with.

If you're in doubt and have no way to try out the pedals, I would strongly recommend going with the power glide. I've used every variation of the iron cobra at some point and can say that the Power Glide was the best all-around. Smooth, responsive, and fast.

Too bad you can't get your feet on a lot of pedals, 'cause everyone is different. I played the Tama IC's, Pearl Eliminator's, DW's, Axis....and the Yamaha Flying Dragon Direct Drive is what I took home. If you have to buy blindly, you really aren't gonna go wrong with any of them. John Bonham played a Speed King. Billy Cobham played Camco's. Alex Van Halen played Ghost pedals. The newest breed of pedals all are much more refined, but in the long run, it's the drummer, not the pedal. And since you've got nothing to compare to, you'll just be amazed.

How durable is the strap drive?

Also, do you get a choice of beaters and springs in the box when you buy the pedal? Or do you buy them separately?

I have an old Tama Hi-Beat pedal, model 6740 strap drive that I bought in 1980. A off-shoot of a Rogers design, still works and still has the original strap. The new Tama strap drive, I wouldn't have any concern about durability.

I have to disagree. I've had a single strap drive Iron Cobra for about eight years and the strap does wear out and break. Unfortunately it broke on me during a gig? Lickily I had a back-up. The replacement strap has lasted for many years. Just give it a look now and then to determine its strength.

In regards to the original question, you can't go wrong with a double power glide. Highly recommended!
