I finally made the decision to fit my Ludwig's with a full set of Remo's. Clear Ambassador's on the toms and the Powerstroke 3 on the 26" kick. I gave the Deep Ludwig wood snare the new Remo 50th Anniversary coated ambassador. After 32yrs of playing the Remo skins I'm back to them. The last set of heads I bought were Evans G2 coated's which are a good head. Overall though I feel Evans don't have the build quality of the new Remo's. The Evans also don't seem to last as long and are tough to tune but boy there attack is killer. Overall I think my old friends are long over due...

I'm currently using a 2007 Ludwig Accent custom Zep kit. I have been playing since 1975 and have played them all. This kit is a killer deal with great sound and build quality.

If I may make a suggestion. This might sound off the wall, but check it. Remo Muffl's.... try them, especially since you are using an Accent series drum, and you are using Remo heads. The Remo Muffl's DO NOT drown out the sound of the drum. Infact, they focus and project the sound. I know it seems hard to belive, but you have to try them for youself.

I was told the same thing a few years ago and now I'm telling you. I never EVER considered the thought. But, I finally broke down and tried it. OMG... I never thought that it would actually work. Especially becuase the Accents are made with selected veneers.

Just try it... I'm positive you wont be disappointed. Plus, when you mic them... Well, you just have to see for yourself.

Welcome back...lol

I did sort of the same thing after a trial of using all Evans(g2 coated, Emad, genera res) and then Aquarian Texture Coated. I went to Remo Fiberskyns and now will go back to Remo Ambassador coated. Fiberskyns are great heads though, I will keep them in mind too.

Thank you for the great advice i may give the Remo muffs a look. I just don't want to lose any sustain.

You will lose horrible overtones. I don't know if you link them with (sustain).. hahaha! Um, there might be a second of sustain cut by the Muffl's, alot of it depends on your tuning methods. You will need to experiment with tuning settings once they are on... it takes a few times to get it right, but worth the effort.
