I saw an ad for this in the latest Modern Drummer- It's a drumset drumstick with two butt ends.
So basically a 16" x .5" stick of wood with rounded ends and a mild taper.
Sounds kind of caveman-like, but interesting. I'm gonna pick up a pair and try them out 'cause they seem like they would be fun to play with. Well, maybe not for soft acoustic jazz, but rock.

Been around for years in various forms. They were big in the 80's.

ProMark also has a similar model, with a funnier name.

Well, they're thicker than timbale sticks to accomodate drumset playing.

I have a pair of Morgan Roses Signature Sticks that Vater makes. Theyre pretty much the equivalent to this Zildjian pair..... the Alien Freak ooooo lol. I hate the feeling of these sticks, but thats just me.

It well worth having a pair in the ol' bag.
Lots of people will tell you to use the butt end of you normal sticks, but the problem is, when you play them normally, you get splinters!!!

These would be fun if you had really big toms and/or a gong drum for a sort of Taiko feel or something. Probably work for bongos, cowbells, granite blocks, tambourines that kind of thing too. Rock ballads come to mind as well as sort of 40s Swing (think Krupa fills on 20 floor tom) I can't imagine using these things to play cymbals with though other than maybe a china, crash, or splash.
