My 500th post, so I figured, why not make it provocative!!!

Anyway, what do you use for lube to on the lugs?

Advice appreciated as always.

I have never needed any lube for the lugs. My drums are always in a nice air conditioned room. I might need lube one day.

I tried some wite lithium grease spray, but I feel that it is too thick, and over time dries up,but when agitated it does move just fine i suggest some sort of oil like wd-40(which is what i reccomend to lubricate most every non pourus suface)

so I just say nothing too thick such as greases, more thinner things like oils, thoguh if it is too thin and verry runny, like vegitable oil it may drip down into the lugs and get into the wood.

Most companies use a type of grease. You can get some at places like Drum Foundry, etc.

Careful. If you have some or all of your drums tuned low, excessive lube on the tension rods will make them detune quickly. A nightmare. Don't ask me how I know this. ;-)

I'm just going to go ahead and ask how do you know that?

A dab of Vaseline works fine.

Agreed. That's what I use on the lugs too.
