i was thinking about putting snares on my floor tom.. not tightly or anything i just want to see what kind of effect will come out of it.. any suggestions?

I have never heard this before but it seems to me like it would sound like your snares buzzing after you hit the tom which isn't cool but I don't really know.

I will definitely watch this thread. I often thought "what would a set sound like with snare wires on ALL toms!". Stupid as it sounds, I thought it might sound cool.

Wait.. are you just laying them on the drum? You can't possibly put snare wires on the reso side of your floor tom because a snare gut needs to be cut into the shell. Plus, you'd have to use a snare-side rim to keep it in place.

Hahaha, ya right.. lol. Thats some high tech ingenuity there my friend. Postal tape and snares... hell ya!

it works though, the effect isnt that bad. i would reccomend using some better tape though.. after about ten minutes ihave to flip it over and re apply it.. do you guys think if i use packing tape and when i peel it off do you guys think it will ruin my finish?
