I don't think they're Catalina's. This drum has got 10-Ply Maple with the Silver Sealer, Die-Cast Hoops and 10 Lugs. That's no Catalina Snare. I keep almost ordering this snare just so I can modify it with a Trick Throw or something like that. I probably would've ordered it by now but it's just so similar to the snare I already have.

Nope, not a Catalina. Go to the Gretsch site http://www.gretschdrums.com/index.cfm?fa=snaresub&sid=542 and you will see they are their "Full Range" line of snares. I ordered mine this morning but I dought I will have it for this weekends jobs. Maybe for the 4th job next week. This drum list every where for $259.00 and is the normal price at MF. Yea a good buy and if I don't like it back it goes.

oh yea, your right. I just skimed through the post and saw $100 bucks and assumed it was the catalina's that they have for that price. But yea its a maple and i know this snare very well. Nice and warm. :) GC stocked it for a long time until recently when they pulled to make room for newer gear, so all the last ones went on clearance for about this price. Guess theyre doing the same with the online venues. Musiciansfriend being partialy owned by gc.
