It is so hard to find a studio without the SM57 Shure mic!!
Shure mics are highly recommended to absolutly anyone in absoutly every situation!

The SM57 is good for use in a dynamic-microphone situation. For everything else, there's Masterca... I mean condenser microphones. Do not use the SM57 as an overhead ;-).

you never know when you will need a 6 inch long piece of fairly durable metal! If the can work after being run over by a truck, who's to say they won't work to change a tire of the truck? ;p
Agreed to MFB, 57's as condensers are not the wisest choice.
