Someone sent me this picture of their drum set they're selling and he claims that its a Vistalite. It looks like it has the B/O badges. Anyways, what do you think they are?

LVDC will eventually see this and give you all the information you need.

Definitley not Vistalites, but they are B/O badges. Vistalites are acrylic shells, and those are most surely not (wood bd hoops, wood inside bd visible, no transparency in the shells, etc...)
Can you get the serial number on those? I'm going to guess for now that its a ludwig maple

That would be awesome if they were maple drums! They also come with plenty of hardware but more importantly one of those speed king pedals.

Yeah I was guessing they weren't Vistalites because of the wood hoops. I'll try to get some serial numbers soon.

Like others have said, they sure don't look like VistaLites from that photo but considering that most, but not all, entry level Ludwigs from that time frame carried a different style Badge they may be worth looking into a little more..............

Try to get a decent photo of the interior of at least one drum, prefferably one that shows the backside of the badge grommet as well as another good one of the Badge itself. Also, if at all possible, ask the seller what the serial numbers are just to see if this group of drums were built about the same time (looking for serial number spread.) Another thing would be to see what type / style of mounts are on the Toms & Bass, including Spur size..............

By that photo the possiblity exists that it may be a Pro Beat (shown below in Chrome over Wood) in what Ludwig called, Blue Silk.........

Hmm....not really into chrome wraps. Does it look like a 24" BD in the picture? Looks more like a 22" to me, which I hope it is.

As I mentioned in my post the Catalog image shows Chrome over Wood, which wasn't, by any means, the only color / finish the Pro Beat came in, it's just what Ludwig decided to use for their Catalog image that year. As I also mentioned, the Outfit photo you posted looks to be Ludwig's Blue Silk Color / Wrap, No.115 below.................

If that's an 18" Floor Tom then the Bass does look to be a 22.................

The possibility also exists, however remote, that it could be an early Standard Outfit in Blue Cortex but you would have to see the Spurs to tell for sure. The early 80's Standard Line used Ludwig's Large Classic Lugs and carried Blue & Olive Badges but had straight Spurs as opposed to the arched retracable type used on the regular line of Bass Drums. It looks like the Bass in your photo has ten Lugs, which would rule out the Standard Line since they only had eight Lugs on the Bass and is why I said that it would only be a remote possibilty that it may be a "beefed up" Standard Outfit....................

Oh I assumed that "blue silk" is just like "blue chrome".

That would mean that it is more than likely a Pro Beat, a nice Outfit, but considering the guy said they were VistaLite's, who knows..............

I hang out at a friend's Drum Shop where we have a running joke about used Ludwigs based on what many eBay sellers use in their title, Mint, Bonham, VistaLite's, irreguardless of what they have..............

So these are couple pics of it set up. It kind of looks like a 24" doesn't it? A bottom rim is missing on the smaller tom, hmmm. I just asked him to take some pics of the bass drum legs.

The bigger of the 2 mounted toms almost looks like a 15", not a 14". Most 15" toms have 8 lugs per side not six, but I can't really tell for certain.
