View Full Version : Who would you like to sit and drum with?
DrumBuster

So if you could pick one person to sit and drum with who would it be?
They can be dead (for those Bonzo and Rich fans) or living.
Personally it would have to be Chris Adler, he seems so genuine and I like his set-up.
Anyone else?

Johnny Rabb, Jeff Queen, and Bill Bachman (on quints). They're all cool and very talented. The way Johnny Rabb integrates the freehand technique is incredible, and the other two are just insane. But i wouldn't get to drum with them, it would end up being me getting pwned by them blowing me away, and then them trying to help me. But they're all wicked sic anyways.

Kris Meyers of Umphrey's McGee- he really seems like a guy who has a lot of fun when playing drums, but he has some serious talent and can jam like a mother having a baby.
Ringo- He's Ringo! Do you need another reason?
Meg White- This would be funny.
And Don Brewer 'cause that dude can play rock.

Louie Bellson, we could have a drum battle, yea I would get my rear kicked but it would still be cool. Maybe he would give me a few tips and show me some stuff.

Well lets see. Probably, Derek Roddy, Joey, Benny Greb or Krupa would be my choices.
They're all great drummers and when I found out about them, I noticed they play similar things as I do in their respective genres, so I quite like them.

I'm young, yes. Snide, yes. Angry? No. I'm nineteen, and don't think that your age is going to pull rank because you've proved time and time again to be as immature as you're stipulating that I am. 'Snozzy Bizz'? What's that? A playground taunt? Pathetic. Don't call me son, it's condescending and I can appreciate that in the next post you'll most likely call me 'son' just to contradict me.
I just find your lack of any discernible personality hilarious. And the fact that you're a previously banned member who re-instated himself equally reprehensible. Nobody really liked you last time, so why again a second time?

pwnag3
Man, I've never got this stuff...? How does pwned3 or whatever = owned, if it is even meant to. I have a severe case of a lack of tech-savvy and simply can't understand why it 'pwnag3' means anything! Ahhhh I want to understand!!! ... yet I really don't. The internet will be the disintegration of language as a true form of communication. Soon all young people growing up will be walking around and communicating with 'Like, like, like totally, like yeah, like.....like......like yeah'.
Anyway, back on track. It's a difficult question actually. Maybe Jeff Ballard. I'm digging his stuff at the moment. Or Ari Hoenig....actually I would really like to sit down with John Riley.
Sorry guys, more than one, I know. Ok, make it John Riley.

How does pwned3 or whatever = owned
Don't mean to get off topic/change the subject...just answering....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pwned
It's not on the wiki but it supposedly came from a map designer for Quake that misspelled "owned" and typed in "pwned" It spawned off from there, become the atrocity that it is today. Hope this helped...
And oh yea, to answer the thread.... I'd have to be Jojo Mayer. After watching his new DVD I don't think i'll be able to say anybody but him for a while.

I'd kinda like to sit down with Neil Peart, but we'd probably end up talking about everything except drumming.

Alive- I would sit with Todd Sucherman, or Steve Gadd. If I sat with with Simon Phillips, I would ask more questions about Toto play.
Dead- Jeff Porcaro without a doubt R.I.P.

Vinnie Colaiuta, Jojo Mayer and any of the guys who were the house studio drummers from any of the old r&b labels.
Though i'd rather have a conversation/question time with all those greats rather than play with them.

Meg White for sure! She's not of a standard that would make me feel like I was dragging the chain, plus she's a good team player and seems like a fun person. I think jamming with Ringo would be a heap of fun too. If I was in a room with guys like Vinnie or Steve Smith, I'd feel superfluous and prefer to just listen or play very minor accompaniment.
If I was a great drummer, I've love to jam with Bill Bruford because he was so adventurous and unpredictable.

No hesitation for me, Art Blakey.
No one swings harder that Art. He constantly nurtured young talent and promoted jazz music at every opportunity.
I would love the chance to watch and learn from Bu.
