You can post pics as long as you have a 24" or bigger. Enjoy

How many snare stands do you have, sharky?

Ok, I've started this thread, and i can't do the pitures. I tried uploading them, but it says they need resizing. I don't know how to do that. Help anyone? Please?

If you have a PC, open the pics in microsoft paint go up to "view" then select "stretch" and type in the percentage of the image you want and it will shrink to 75% of it's size or what ever you type in.

For a Mac I havent figured out myself.

I should'nt be posting in here since I only have a 22" but I want a classic maple Bonham kit so very badly. I best go now.

If you want people to post pictures of their own drums, this should be in the Your Gear topic. Please clarify, thanks.

Maybe he can move it to the right forum. I like looking at these - even though I have an 18 by 18 bass drum. It's dinky, but because of the materials it sounds much larger.

18"x24" Keller shelled DW's. This bass drum is a beast with the SKII / PS3 heads.

I am going to be honest, what is the novelty in big bass drums. For me the 24" is the biggest bass drum I'd go for but I don't understand why anyone would have a 26"+ bass drum.

You get a big, thunderous sound with a big shell. The trade-off is less articulation - notes are not as distinct, because there is more resonance and more drumhead to move. Plus they look cool.

If you see the Tommy Lee Zildjian adds, you see he has a double pedal hooked up to the 26'', and no pedals on the 32''!

Do you guys have to do anything special with your pedals to hit your big bass drums properly?

MadWatch, nice kit. 20" deep must be a whole lotta boomy, mine's 18" though so...
About the gong, i HATE zildjian cymbals, and think they suck, i'm a paiste man myself so i want a 38" symphonic gong for my kit. i will probably get an 18" floor tom though, 20" wouldnt fit in properly :p

Thanks! Its not as boomy as you might think it would be. I love the 40in gong... always fun to incorporate that into our songs. I also have a gong bass ( not pictured ) that I like to use with the kit sometimes. Its 18x16 with a 20in head and sounds awesome. I have been really pleased with the pork pie kit so far.

I dont really do anything special. I sometimes move the beater up a little depending on the pedal I use , but other than that I havnt felt a need to mess with anything and am able to play just fine with it. Obviously compared to a 20 or 22in bass your not able to play as well/fast and you need to adjust your playing style slightly but its not bad at all.

Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater)
Adrian Erlanison (Cradle Of Filth)

Both use 2x24" bass drums. There speed aint effected. i think it is purly a case of getting used to the bass drums and tuning them right.

You can still play fast with them, but it is weird. Like DeathMetalConga said there will be less distinction in between hits. When playing fast, it will probably sound like a roar, unless well miked. At least, that's my experiences with bigger bass drums.

My death metal band played a show with another group about 5 years ago. They had all of their stuff setup and didn't want to take it down. So, they told us just to use their equipment (amps and drums). Their drummer was rocking a 28", and it was definitely different than my 20" i was sporting at the time.

The lugs are specialized and angle out and clamp onto the edge of the drumhead. Its the drum on the far left.

Yes it is. One of seven kits with around 20 snares. The rack used to belong to Tommy Aldridge.

Madwatch, what are the specs on the other drums?
The toms look like they may be 12", 13", and 16" and I'm guessing the Gong drum is a 20". Looks great by the way.

Thanks Ozzy Biz! Here's the specs 26x14 kick , 10x8 , 12x9 , 16x13 toms and 22x16 gong drum ( actually 21x16 with a 22in head ). Green snare is my old 13x6 pork pie.

So far its been a blast to play and sounds fantastic. The single ply heads sound pretty good for stock heads. I usually use G2's but might get some G1's if they will hold up.
