I still can't find a happy equivalent to my 18" Zildjian K med-thin crash with Sabians. To me, the Sabians' wash just doesn't sound as full or solid.

And lately, I've heard some sweet Paiste's.

Anyone know a good match in Paiste to my Zildjian K?

i could be wrong on this but i think the 2002 line in paiste is pretty much the equvalent to the k line from zildjan.

I'm a big fan of selecting my cymbals by their sound. Brand doesn't make any difference. If the "K's" give you the sound you like then buy more K's. All the lines have great sounding plates. It's really a very personal process. That is why I don't restrict myself to brand. I have a nice selection of Sabian (B8pro, Pro Sonix, AAX), Paiste (PST3/5/Alpha) & now a K ride.

Just have fun & use yer ears!!

I don't think the 2002's sound anything like the the K's.
I have a 2002 collection, and I had K's and I couldn't find any similarities.
I also have Meinl Byzance, that in my opinion are much closer to K's.

I totally agree and I use to own many different Paiste cymbals {2002,602,Sound Creation}.The current production modern K's I recently purchased and several Paiste 2002 I tested recently had no similar sound qualities to share IMO.

K is zildjians top line.
Sig reflectors are Paistes top line. They sound similar in a way, but ks are much darker.

Paiste's "Traditional" series and "Dark Energy" series would likely be somewhat similar to Zildjian Ks.

BTW, I use a bright and airy 18" 2oo2 ride along with a dry 22" Zildjian K ride in my set-up just to have a couple of choices of bright or dark/washy or dry.

The only series from Paiste that came close to K Zildjian are the discontinued "Sound Creation" series cymbals. They happened to be my all-time favourites, especially the dark crashes. Some "Traditional" models are in the direction but there is nothing from Paiste you can compare to Kīs.

The crashes that I have found to come the closest are Sabianīs HHXtreme crashes in the larger sizes, i.e: 19"
