Finished this one up today... I need to buff it again and bring back the high gloss that my greasy hands screwed up but I couldn't wait to get the hardware on and play it. =) Sounds pretty killer for a 13" snare. Cherry definitely has a little different tone than the maple I'm used to playing.

Just added a recording that this drums new owner recorded for me. Not my playing but it sounds darn good! =)

Looks really beautiful. As far as I`ve heard has cherry a darker tone?
And it is heavy??

Mhhh, however it sounds...hope you like it! (I guess yes) =)

Holy cow, dude! You're the Larry Flynt of drum porn. Every time I turn around you've got something new and exotic. I can't keep up.

Beautiful drum. I would love a steam-bent shell someday. That's how Western drums were traditionally made before the advent of ply technology. How does the sound differ?

You need to open up a Picasa website, from Google, and post your drums in one spot. Maybe you and Unix could highlight them all.
It's free and easy my friend.

Why bother with picasa when I have my own website? I'm in the process of getting the website up and running. lol This snare is actually going to be for sale.

DC: Sound clips Saturday... we played with it at the local GC and while I liked it before I LOVE it now. In fact one of the drummers there is having me make him one but in 14" size. He fiddled with the tuning a bit and this thing just sounds beautiful. Then again he's probably twice the drummer I am so that helped.

lol thanks.. very flattering =) This shell was done by Ian at Wittpercussion and I must say he does an amazing job. I've got another shell coming from him shortly that's a bit of a test project to see if it's the wood we think some other builder refers to by another name. I won't mention names so as not to start a fight. lol

One of the local guys is wanting me to build one out of rosewood... that should be beautiful... just gotta make sure it can be steam bent.

New soundclip: http://www.mckenziedrums.com/SoundFiles/cherrysnare.mp3 not my playing... the new owner of this drum sent it to me. Put Cherry on your list of woods to have a snare made from for sure!
