Hi,
Just when you thought it was safe...here's another video:
http://www.live-drums.com/video/pamela.wmv
This is actually one hard groove to play, with any authority that is. Jeff made it look sooo easy. As you can see I'm struggling a bit.

Why sorry?? Jeff would be very proud.
Nothing more to say, just keep it up and you can play this groove with ease!
PS: What ride do you use?
Great work!

I liked it man. the hh ostinato wasnt completely consistant as far as the feel goes but it sounded good to me anyways.

Ok, great drumming as always, though it seems you are struggling with this groove more then with the others. And to be honest, the singing wasn't completely needed I think. But, your skills amaze me, and so does your drumset. Keep up posting those vids!

I dont really know what the others guys are seeing that im not. If i heard it in the grocery store i wouldn't criticize your grove. I think you sound great.
I put tape on my Constantinople too. What hats are those? and is that the reference snare? Its sounds pretty sweet.
EDIT: On second watch i can hear the hh lagging a bit at the onset but it shapes up nicely at the end.

DC, those hats are the 14" K Custom Sessions.
Nergretty, your drums sound absolutely fantastic. Really great quality. I love watching these videos.

Yup, it's difficult cause I don't have a cue for the start of the music. It's just bang and I have to slide into it...hence the slight inconsistent start. I'm not playing the break particularly well either, if we're nitpicking. But I'm totally ok with the comments. I'm confident with my skills so it's alright.
I have to stress that it was a long time since I actually played these songs. Sorta brushed up on them quickly cause some people wanted to see more Toto songs drum videos. ;)
What would be interesting would be to see/hear some more people's interpretations of those grooves.
Cheers for the kind comments

Thanks man. Yeah, the singing was just for fun... ;) It's not to be released on CD...so don't take it too seriously.
I wouldn't say I'm struggling with the groove per se. It's just not as smooth as it would be would I have played it some more. And the second break fill is really tricky to pull off (without practice). Jeff is pure class on that one.
What the video teaches me in general is that my vocabulary is not as well defined compared to Jeff's. Something to work on, definitely. When he underscores something he really underscores it, whereas I'm a little too subtle and even at times I think.

Cheers man. What would be the fun if there wasn't room for improvement? ;)
It's a good performance, but I can do better. Felt a bit tight during the recording, really not looking as relaxed as I normally do.

While I'm waiting for the video to load (sigh) let me say that I bet $100 USD that if you posted just an MP3 of you playing this,...people wouldn't notice "anything" wrong. I just don't understand why people love to jump on and post what they see wrong with a video,...always. Oh well......still waiting...
AGAIN......don't see it, or hear it ........nice job Nerg ........
Damn Reference's !!!! :p

I think the important thing to realize here is that this type of groove requires alot of dicipline, maturety and tasteful restraint to pull of..............great work, and the kit, as allways, sounds great too!
