Hi Drummer Karl (Neighbour)! =)

Thank you for your post and your words ;) I'm happy that you enjoyed the songs :)

"btw, how did you record the drums in Egyptian Walls? And did you record with a click?"

We have recorded it with one microfon. Nothing special. We didn't play it alone in parts so we had no click ;). You will be able to hear the songs with a few more in July as an live version :)

Hey Drummer Karl,

it's a Shure SM 58 microphone ;)

Ha!
Kinda funny because I thought that.

The SM58 is a very good mic, sounds very professional...my bandmates like it too. We already thought about borrowing one and recording something...would be good, wouldn`t it?

nice atmosphere and sound but its too progresive for my taste !! but good job !! you are at my age and already recorded 2 your songs while our band is still at 1.2..1.2.3.4 .. lol i was curious how did you recorded those songs cause we are planing to record some covers but we dont have any idea except going to studio. also whats "click" drummer karl was talking about ??

Hey CASP3Rdrummer,

try it with one microphone - if the quality is not good enough or not to your full satisfaction -> go in a studio. I wouldn't go in a studio for cover recordings - it usually costs a lot of money.... Get a microphone and a free recording software like N23-Recorder or Audacity an try it ;)

"click"

Karl asked me if I had a click (metronome) while I was playing the song. Many drummers use a click in the studio. I didn't use it, because it was only a session and no professional record. The click is not necessary if you can play in time - try it without click - but make sure that you won't get faster or slower on the record ;).

So you all played at once? Together?
If I also "dislike" a click a bit. Hard to explain why...and especially in Jazz I definitly wouldn`t prefer it.
With a click I feel kinda limited even if I can play something in time. Also with a few musicians at once it can be hard to record with click.

Hey Drummer Karl,

"So you all played at once? Together?"

Yes, we have ;)

About the click:

I've heard the most jazz drummers have no click while they are recording. So - lucker :D

I practise with click but when I play with my band, I don't use it. The click just go you on the nerves when you play for 2-3 hours :P.
