Hey, I'm planning on getting a new ride soon. I'm looking for one that's bright, cutting, loud, and has some serious bell, but is still musical. It would be used for rock/hard rock. No death metal or anything, but I need a cymbal that's gonna show up while still sounding great.

I'm looking at maybe an A custom 20 or 21" projection ride, an A 21" medium ride, or maybe even a Z custom 21" Mega Bell

Any ideas? Thanks.

20" or 22" A custom Ping ride. Amazing ride, and it fits all the qualities you just said.

Don't buy a 20"! You'll regret it, I know I did!

If you go Zildjian I'd say go with the 22" ping as recommended above. Z's are only good in VERY LOUD situations.

The very last thread ono page four is a particularly good one becuase it is very similar in request to this thread, but its certainly not the only one.

Stay away from the Mega Bell, Don't Buy a 20" it's too small for you I think. I think A custom, or sabian AA would be good for you. Or maybe K?

It's not loud enough. I have a 20" A custom medium ride at the moment, but im going to buy a new one within a few weeks. it's like you can not hear it when im playing with other people.

i recorded with a hand hammered sabian medium ride last year and that was very nice, i play loud rock stuff. also just recorded with my sabian hh raw bell dry ride and that fits your description nicely as well, its got a lovely roar when you open it up as well. I'll try and pm you some sound files so you can hear them recorded. Most of the cymbals mentioned above will more than likely hit the spot, you just need to have a go on all of them and pick your preference.
