I'm not sure if I posted just the single-handed version of this before, but here is a new video of a funk groove that was written for a lesson on my website. It was written to be played with one hand, but I play it first with two, just to show that some grooves that people can play with two, you can still play with one and have it sound and feel good.

Here is the mp3 if anyone can't view the video: http://www.handidrummed.com/drummers/profiles/rob/media/rob_funkaudio.mp3

and here is the transcription of the single handed part, but the two handed isn't much different. http://www.handidrummed.com/lessons/singlehanded_funk.php

Great stuff Rob - as always. You remain an inspiration to many of us, both in your playing and the example you set for others.

that's damn cool. with your free hand you could add a shaker or tambourine part or if you're like me, take a few sips of beer.

Well I do have the coordination for the beer...

The groove was written for those who only have one arm/hand, but I never thought of taking it or grooves like it and playing other parts with my free hand. Good suggestion.

That was great Rob!!
You`re really groovy and the fill-ins sound so awesome.

Both versions sounded just groovy...oh, and tight.

i'm really impressed dude! that's a great idea plus you're playing it with a really hard groove, i like it. do i see inspirations with Stanton Moore (this neworleans-ish floor tom played on 4)? :)

Thanks. I didn't write the groove, I just played it. It was written by Brad Schlueter for my site.

Very cool! I never thought of trying with one-hand, that which I play with both hands. Although, the groove was written for the handicapped, it inspires me to take the challenge myself.

Thanks for the idea and the inspiration!

Very cool, Rob! I've thought of doing a djembe part with my left hand, along the lines Nutha Jason mentioned. Just don't have a djembe stand.

I've had a little experience with being temporarily handicapped - I've had a couple of surgeries on my right hand. What I found out was that my left hand was simply a club with digits when trying matched grip. It's getting better because I keep plugging away at it, but I have the greatest admiration for folks who overcome these types of obstacles on a daily basis.

Inspiring work, Rob!

Actually I just remember that Clutch's "Tripping the Alarm" has a single-handed part. For most of the song the drummer Jean-Paul Gaster is playing a conga or bongo part in his left hand but there are times when he drops that and just keeps the beat going with his right hand.
