I posted my new DW (http://drummerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26923) kit recently...here's the one I ebay'd together over the last month or so. The kit is older, made in 1997, and the snare was the one I bought new w/ the kit in the link above...made in '06.
I prefer and normally play Zildjian cymbals but I've been see-sawing and really liking the sound of Paistes lately. So, I did an all Paiste layout on this kit. I'm contemplating moving these cymbals over to my primary kit in place of my Zidjians...I like 'em that much!
Sizes:
9x12 (up)
12x14 (floor)
14x16 (floor)
18x22 kick
5x14 DW snare
Cymbals:
20" 2oo2 ride
19" 2oo2/Sig. prototype crash
16" Sig. Mellow crash
14" 2oo2 Sound Edge hats
...coated emperors top, clear ambassadors bottom

I like the looks of this kit so much more than I like your primary kit, it looks so smooth :).
Have fun playing!

Thanks! The previous owner did the paint job, it's "Cobalt Metallic Blue". It's really nice under the right lighting...it sparkles like crazy.
What I might do is; have a couple more coats of the same color put on...and have a professional finish it off w/ lacquer...until it looks like glass.
I just need to find someone around here who does that sort of thing...and I need to order some lug gaskets from DW to protect the finish.
This kit sounds quite a bit different than the new one...the shells seem thinner. They're Keller shells since it's a 90's DW.

Great colour, and I like the tom sizes. I play 12" and 16" tom/floor tom and I'm either gonna get a 14" floor or an 18" floor, but that looks so comfy with the 14" that I don't see why I'd get the 18". It would be massive and it may sound weird with a 12" to 18" sound change. How do you like 12/ 14/ 16" toms?

My opinion is two-fold; it depends on what type of music you're focusing on playing and also - it's all in how you tune it. I've got the 12" and 14" toms tuned to each other and I've got the 16" tuned relatively loose....so it's got *big* thunder. A 16" is pretty big, as you know, and personally I doubt I'd ever use an 18" floor tom.

Hey ho Zam! very nicely done. beautiful color, n sizes!
Curious to know how the thinner keller shells sound different to your main kit. I've played a DW exotic, so I kinda know that SOUND.

Ha! I just posted a thread about what people would recommend replacing this kit with! This isn't because I dislike the kit...it's because I rarely play it and I get bored really easily. ;)
As for the sound...it's really nice. I can only compare it to my newer DW that I play everyday. This one has a far different tone...I guess you could say it's "woodier" - like the drums you hear on old jazz recordings. It's definitely unlike anything I've played before.
I will say that the kick on this kit has way more thunder than my new one...strangely enough. I've used the same exact heads on both and the blue kick is super fat and round...I just can't get the same beefy tone out of my newer one.

When you hit it...it says "easy man...be cool...be cool..."
Sorry, couldn't resist. It's thin and not as high-pitched as the full signature crashes.

Sweet kit...My Dw kit was also born in 1997. Like a fine wine; they only get better with age.
Beauty dude! That colour is very original, it would look awesome with a few coats of clear and a dash of sparkle!
im interested in getting a few new paistes, but im kind of lost. I dont really follow the paiste line, but i do love their sound and reputation.
