A GOOD DRUM RUG!! HELP!

After going through several drum rugs, I am sooooo tired of my drum set sliding. Who knows about good drum rugs/carpets? Thanks.

Go to a few carpet stores, you'll find something that suits for the right price.

Most floorcoverings stores have warehouses, and they have small lengths of carpet from excess supplies and offcuts. They're also usually cheap because it's not enough to do full rooms with. Buy one and cut it to size, then take it to an upholsterer and have the edge bound, which is a fast, cheap and effective method.
Regular wool, loop pile house carpet is great. It has a bit of weight, and spurs will not slide though the loops.

I lay vinyl and carpets for a living, and previously worked at a carpet factory. I've got a 1.5 x 1.7m mat which looks great, and fits a racked 7pc perfectly. And if I'd paid for it, it would've cost me less than $AU30.

This might sound weird, but Ive started using one of those kind of sticky foam yoga mats and I really like it. Its really compace and easy to carry and my drums never slip anymore.

Go to Home Depot, they'll have little 3' X 5' rugs, the kind you see in front automatic doors and such. They roll up or fold, fit in your hardware bag, and they're just big enough for most sets. Best of all, they're under twenty bucks.

Protection racket do brilliant drum mats in 2 sizes. I got the massive one that fits a big double bassdrum kit on ;o)

Anyone who buys a rug marketed specifically for drums is getting ripped off big time. I just saw a Protection Racket rug for $100. I've been using a $20 hunk of carpet and NOTHING ever moves. It even matches my set. Don't buy into this gimmick unless you enjoy wasting your money. Go to Lowe's, Walmart, any other store people in this thread recommended and get something. And use the spurs...

Well, in the case of a Tama bass drum (Artstar and Granstar II with the 1 piece lugs) you DO need something like the Easyrider with a method of keepinhg the bass drum from creeping! I could never figure this out!

As long as you get a cheap rug with a non-skid bottom surface and use the spikes of your bass spurs' feet, you should be fine.
