heyyyyyy all,
I have 2 ride cymbals, both 20" and both in pretty good condition. I am thinking of selling one to buy a crash or maybe selling both for a new ride.
I have a zildjian "A" ping ride and a Sabian AA "heavy" ride.
I want something bright and cutting with a powerful bell sound.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks so much,
H

I think you want a brilliant ride. A Custom or K Custom Should Do nicely. The K Custom (which i have) is suber veritille, gets through, and is not annoyingly bright as some rides can be and not stupidly dark like others. Explains why a huge number of pros use it.

If you want something bright with a powerful bell, why do you want to sell a zildjian ping ride?????
I would sell the Sabian ride and get yourself a crash. What kind of sound are you looking for in the crash?

Have you ever heard of the Sabian Artisan ride? I have that and it is superb for any genre.

Paiste Signature Dry Heavy ride. Matches your description exactly.

Based on what you say that you are looking for, I would suggest a 21" Zildjian Rock Ride or a Sabian AA 21" Rock Ride. This cymbal is about as bright and has a powerful bell as you can get!

Why not try the ping ride as a crash/ride??

I agree, but if you want something with a VERY loud and cutting bell, go with the Z custom mega bell ride. It probably doesn't get a very good ride sound, so yeah I would go with one if the rock rides.

Eww. They have one of these in stock at my local music store, and (imo) it sounds terrible. Very shrill and brittle. I didn't even try the bell, but just playing a little on the bow made me cringe and my ears bleed. Thankfully, my hearing was restored after hitting a 17" K Dark thin crash.

Look no further than the Sabian Paragon 22" ride. That bitch has the sweetest bell I have ever heard, but overall, it was too "pingy" for me. If I could afford it, I definately would have kept it as a secondary ride, to compliment my 22" K!
Don't even think about anything from the Z Custom line.. about as musical as an anvil...
