Hello all, I recently acquired a Wuhan China off of amazon.com because I had $20 in change at the coinstar machine, anyways I was wondering if someone can tell me why some of you have your chinas flipped over.. Does it sound better or is it for looks? I've never had any experience with effect cymbals so I don't really know how to put it.. Thanks guys

I play with mine inverted because I like to mix up hitting the edge and hitting the rounded section just inside the edge of the cymbal. I have 5 chinas on my kit (3 Wuhans and 2 Sabians). I love having lots of accent cymbals and different tones. We just opened for Drowning Pool last Friday and the sound guys loved my 18" and 20" Wuhan chinas. I also have a 12" Wuhan, and a 14" and 18" Sabian. I have seen people play them set up the other way, but I would say a vast majority of drummers play them inverted to access that big meaty part of the china.

It also keeps the turned up edge from making minced meat out of your sticks.

Mostly for the cymbal edge care & protection. Everytime you hit it on the edge with stick, you weaken the cymbal and it may promptly crack. Also you have a better and bigger playing surface.

Usually only if you are using a China as a Swish or Pang will you see it right side up, since you are using as a ride, not a crash.

I love my 10$ wuhan!
I've asked tons of people the same question, and apperintly if you play the china regulary, it's a bit brighter, and easier to "ride" on. Lot's of jazz drummer's play the china with the bell sticking up.
Depends on what you like :D
