Sold a couple pies over the weekend (need to get them shipped and in the mail TOMORROW or else I will look like a JERK), bought these today, used off a guy that actually lives here in town, and is actually an attorney (the proffesion I am currently trying hard to leave) but who I know not from the real world, but from elsewhere on the net:

18 and 20" "Crash/Rides" aka CYMBALS.
These should be a terrific trio with my 2108g 22" Agop Sig.
Probably going to rivet the 20" (drill two, Mel Lewis sytle probably)
these are the so-called "Bliss II" I believe?
for the geeks (and I mean that lovingly, this stuff fascinates me)
18"=1405g
20"=1875g

First pic is 18L/20R
Second and Third are 20L/18R

having fun, will almost certainly take some more pics later as the light gets interesting outside.

Here's a soundfile of a very similar Bliss II 18" at the same weight.

Mine is a hair darker, dryer and trashier, but just a hair. The guy I bought it from took the mallets to it, and it is well broken in already. Should be tremendous.

About ten seconds of goofing off on the 18" today, with a snare drum and an 18" BD, it seems to be left channel only for some reason.

I think I know what I have to get next!! =)
Very light, beautifully hand-hammered, complex trashy sound I guess? For the price such a 20" or 22" would be amazing!

What is the difference between Bliss I, Bliss II and Bliss III? I`m really curious about the sound.

Now you`re a happy man.

Karl:

here is an explanation of the "types"
it's sort of how the cymbals have changed as the production has ramped up:http://frontrangebronze.com/articles/blisstypo.html

I just had the 20" drilled for 2 Rivets, and installed both last night. It sounds amazing. It would be VERY tempting if I had the money to order up the heaviest 20 or 22 they've got and fill it with a bunch of rivets ala Blakey (see the pic at the bottom, looks like he might have 12 or so, and I'm sure you've seen other pics of him and others.)

Hate to bump an old thread, but I finally got these on the stand last nigh, played them at practice with the guitar trio I'm getting started (straight ahead jazz pretty much). Sounded great. Perfect for the setting in my opinion.

Then at my regular band practice which we recorded, I threw them up during a break to get a decent clip.

I reckon this is a much better sample, than the snippet I posted earlier - on quality of playing and sound, though the playing is admittedly repetitive, at least it's reasonably well executed repetitive, and shows the cymbals pretty well (the hi-hat is a little overpowering though).

the first 1:10 or so is all on the 20" Dream, 2 rivets

then start goofing off between the 20 Dream and a 22" Agop Sig
then to the 18" dream, then back to the 20" at the very end.

about a month ago, i bought a Dream 20'' bliss II on ebay.....I've got all types of Zildjians and Paiste's (32 total) and i've put them away for my new Dream's set. I've now got two Dream 14'' hi hats(a contact set and a bliss set), a 10'' splash, a 16'' contact crash(bought today), two 18" contact crash/rides, two 20'' bliss crash/rides and a monster 24'' bliss ride! All of this for about $1000 US!
I was a little worried that they would be more suited for Jazz when i ordered the first ride. But they all work beautifully for rock! They are "that" sound that i was searching for and i've found it. Check out www.frontrangebronze.com They have sound files for each of the cymbals and they are "true" to the sound when you get them in.
I actually crave the sound of these cymbals.
