I was originally going for a 22" Medium Turk Ride, but I decided I would be better off with a new crash. Plus, this was a deal I could not pass up. No pictures yet, but I do have some specs for those who are impatient:

Bosphorus Traditional Series
17" Dark* Crash
1378 grams
$178.84

I got this gem from www.cymbalcellar.com, and it should find a good home with my 14" Trad Heavy hats and my 20" Trad Med-Thin ride.

Give me four to six days and I should have some extensive pictures of the new crash as well as my complete setup.

Wow... I look forward to seeing pics. I'm a Bos man myself; considerig an 18" Trad jazz crash/ride as next purchase.

Bosphorus makes some tasty cymbals. Todd (cymbalcellar.com) is the man. I got my 18" Trad paper thin from him, and I got a 20" Turk flat coming. Im playing 14" turk hats too. Once you play Bos you never go back!!

Ooookay! So, the moment you've all been waiting for is here.
I got my package this afternoon, with a little bit of daylight left.. so I took the crash and digicam outside for a quick little photo session.

A few minor details ... the ride wasn't 1378 as originally stated, but instead 1390. However, I'm not too distraught -- the sound is actually perfect to my ears, and now I'm really excited to set it up with the rest of my kit to break it in. But sadly, that's for another day.

Bosphorus is just like Istanbul etc. another delicious Turkish cymbalmaker. The crashes sound is so unique. Sometimes I wish I had chosen a heavier Istanbul instead of that AAX Bright crash. Those Turkish cymbals have much more character!

congrats!

I have a cymbal on the way form cymbalsonly as well. He does a great job with his communication, and he posted same day as I paid which was awesome.

Anyway, that cymbal looks pretty dam sexy. I have a Bosphorus trad. china, they're great cymbals, heaps of character.

Here's a video of the cymbal. The audio still doesn't do the cymbal justice, but I hope it gives you a good idea.

Solaris: I didn't purchase this crash from cymbalsonly.com,I went through cymbalcellar.com, which is another really good place for some beautiful, aged second-hand pies. I do reccomend cymbalsonly though for most purchases.

And yes, it's a beautiful crash. There is some residue from tape, but that just adds patina. :D

Karl: Yeah, I'll never buy a machined cymbal ever again! These turkish handmade cymbals have so much character, whenever I hear a machined cymbal in a store, all I hear is a pie tin. Admittedly, there are a FEW cymbals from the major companies that I wouldn't mind owning, but to my ears.. Bosphorus is the only company that's worth the cash.
