Does he re-lathe your cymbal and send it back or is it a new cymbal?

They'll send a new cymbal. They sell the trade-in cymbals on ebay.

hey sleepy, what would u best compare it to in the zildjian lines?

I would say the As, but it's not exact. I have compared my MistX cymbals to some cymbals at the Cymbal Cellar and that's the closest thing I could find.
On a similar note, I had the chance to try my new Saluda 20" Glory heavy dry ride today. So far I am really digging it. I think it is exactly what I wanted (further playing needed). I gave Jamie two reference cymbals for ideas- Zildjian K Custom Session Ride and Sabian HH Power Bell. The ride part of my Glory sounds very much like the K, but lower pitched because it is a larger ride. The bell is very close to the Sabian I think. I have to check the Sabian site to compare, but I'm really liking the sound.

SLeepy,...I'd say teh Mist-X are a more FULL and brighter version of the A Custom line....moreso than the A's ...
You'l love it regardless!

Yea.. I'll back that up after playing on your 18" crash Sleepy.. lol The Mist X's sound like A Customs and the Sig's from Paiste.
You'll love the 16" for sure.

Well, whatever they had at Cymbal Cellar is what I compared mine too. Sorry, it wasn't a very scientific experiment. hehehe :)
Cool, always great to see another Saluda come to the drummers here. I really enjoy my crashes and hi hats.

guys, i think i had a change of heart. I alredy have 2 crashes, i want a china. I asked jaime for something with a low tone, but tons of trash. Similar to the k custom 19" china (that china = awesome, but its EXPENSVIE)
What do you think he will tell me to get?

That I'm not sure. I have never had a china in my setup, but I do plan on buying one from Saluda when I am ready. I have no idea what to get in a china, so I'm very curious about your purchase.

i might trade him my Porkpie for a custom job of simular size. and type. im hoping for a straight up trade. its a 250$ snare.
I use alll saluda cymbals, i love them! they have perfect dark crisp sound.
My cymbal set up
13" diamond medium hats (just as much chink and crisp sound as a soundwave, with out the risk of breaking)
17 and 18 diamond dark medium crashes (very dark, perfect for each other, they match well and complement the hats)
8" china/kang thing. it broke the first day i got it, but theres nothing i can really about it, but it still sounds good, its over a splash right now for a cool trash stack sound.
7.5 bell sounds pretty good, i wish it was about 3 times as loud, but its still cuts pretty well, and works great for my music.
i plan to get a second set of hats, and maybe a ride.. some day, i will get a few chinas too. Im gonna work on replacing the kang, maybe he will do it. i got it off of his ebay store (brand new)

Jolly, I didn't realize you were exclusively Saluda now. I am as well. The Diamonds are very nice. I only have one now, but plan on adding more to my line up. In fact, I'm pretty set on getting an 18 Diamond thin crash for my next cymbal. I think they have mini-chinas in the Diamond line too. Eventually I'll have some 13 D hats, and a 22 thin ride. Those already have spaces reserved on my kit. hahah
I was interested in trying the bell myself. I was going to mount it over the ride but I'm starting to really like the bell sound on my MistX ride. I had to learn how to pull the sound out.

Dude, sleepy, its so hard not to be excusivly Saluda.. they are great cymbals! its kind of-make that very- annoying that they raised the prices recently. The only bad thing i could possibly say about saluda, REALLY hard to shine them for some reason.

Did the prices go up? I haven't noticed. I am still searching for the best way to keep my brilliants brilliant. I used Mothers metal polish on one and it worked pretty well but it is a lot of work. I wonder if they use a small hand buffer on them.
