dont stcik to a brand, check out wuhan, zildjian, paiste, saluda, bosphorus, instanbul, meinl, and other other ones i might ahve forgotten and go from there.
My advice is go to a local music store, and ask them for every flipping china tehy have, and look for taht one on ebay.
unless its a wuhan, then buy it in store.

Thats not up to us to decide - Your ears will hear sounds differently to mine and anyone elses.
I am a personal fan of the 18" HHX, but I love it because it works beautifully in the bands I play with and the style that I play. Yours, again, would be completely different.

The 18" HHX china is simply amazing. Whats your other cymbals like, and how would you like the china to sound?

I'm sold on the AAXtreme chinas.

I was thinking about the 18" AAXtreme china till I played with it a bit in store. Then I didn't like it too much. I leaning towards the 18" HHX myself. The HHX stuff is really working for me right now.

To be honest I hated mine at first and was ready to take it back to the store. It ended up growing on me and now I love it. But as they say: to each his own!

I think if sabian had a "best" china they would only make one. Id say you need to try them having some one hit them while you stand far away. Chinas sound very different behind the kit, above them over them and in front of them.

I had a 14" AAX Mini China once, and it sounded more like a crash to me...I still swear by my 14" Wuhan, that bitch is rude with quick decay. (What a China should sound like IMO.)

just bought a 19"Paragon china. Nice and somewhat darker tone to it. I think its going to work out real good for me.

I really like my 20" HHX, but it all depends on the sound you seek.

It all depends on what genre you play, metal? I play mostly jazz, and I am very happy with my Sabian HH 20'' Chinese...
What if you look into the Zildjian Oriental Trash Chinas? The 20'' would be quite nice, I think.

I think you should consider XS20 china. I have one, and I love it! I actually liked it much better then all other AA and AAX chinas in the store, only HHX was closer to it, but still I prefered XS20! Soundwise it's right in between AAX and HHX i think.

I like the Sabian Jia Chinese myself as well as the HHX Chinese, but honestly the best china I've ever owned (although I got rid of it because I never used it) was a 20" Bosphorus Thin China.

What music do you play mainly?
For funky/rocky things I`d prefer an HHX china or an HHX Evolution mini china. Also Wuhan would do their job.
For Jazz I really like the Bosphorus Jeff Hamilton Hammer china or a Swish...

I like the hhx china, they're very musical, I think that would fit my style. I play prog to funk, anything that sounds good really.

for brighter, more cutting needs, i'd say the AAX 20 inch chinese. for more mellow times, the signature 20 inch jia chinese.
Sabian are the China masters and totally owns Zildjian when it comes to chinas and spashes. But that's just my view. I really like the AA- metal china. My advice is to get hold of some cymbals and try them out!
Sabian Solar chinas are amazing!
¬¬...now seriously...carmine appice 17"

Supriisingly strong for such a fine sounding china...I've been rocking the 18" HHX and am just overly pleased with it. Definitely the loudest cymbal on my rack...cuts like crazy.
Now, as stated on many posts in this thread...go find your personal fav...
I agree: the HHX china. lovely.

I like the Sabian Paragons. The 20" has a nice wash to it and the 19" has a nice cutting pang.

you are correct
I just ordered a 14inch Wuhan after playing one my buddies got. Man its one crrazy peice of metal. An obscure sound that contrasts anything. My favorite kind of china.

HH thin 20". For me. Very sweet with malets, low and dark played softly, and Weapon of Mass Destruction played hard. My best cymbal.

I dont have a lot of experience with Sabian china's. I used to have a Sabian B8 18" china, but it was too mild for me, a little too much of a gong sound. I now play a Paiste Sound Formula Reflector 16" thin china, and I love it. Very thrashy and versatile.
Wuhan makes some nice china's too, I've been looking into buying a 12" wuhan china. But for bigger china's I like the more sophisticated sound of the sound formula I have. Bigger wuhan china's are weapons of mass destruction, might be slightly too thrashy for me.
