So,.......I bought this shell pack a few days ago. I haven't set it up yet(without practice space since March-my kid's freakin out just playing on practice pads!) but thought I would go ahead and show it anyway. As you can see it's a basic Pacific MXR in ebony stain. I got the call to come see them when they were being unboxed and went to "just look" but was so surprised at the amount of transparency in the finish I became a little interested....obviously.
I was hoping that my next kit was going to be custom(sizes, finish) but I think this will be a decent stepping stone kit until that happens. We set them up and tuned them and it took about 10min for me to decide to take the plunge. My drum guy is a good friend so yeh! I got the hookup. I'll try to post complete kit pics soon. I'm getting a practice shed built so hopefully it won't be too long. Some of the pics turned out weird such as uneven color and brassy looking hardware everything with the kit is perfect though... fluorescent lighting I guess.

very nice color kist you got...im not too informed on the pdp hierarchy...is that a more professional type of kit or a cheaper model?...because it looks very proffessional

Larger than standard sizes make it different. Such as 24" kick. It's the start of their non covered maple series(MX,MXR). LX,LXE being lacquer.

Beautiful kit! The CX, CXR, MX, MXR, LX, LXE are pretty much the same wood with different finish options... Again, Post oics when you get it setup!

That looks alot like the kit I got 2 weeks ago!
Very nice :)
I didn't like the stock heads much, and last week I put Remo Pinstripes on all toms and Powerstroke 3 on the bass drum. Much deeper sound now.

Hi Tom,

The shell pack retailed for 900. My drum guy dropped it down to 675 and then gave me 180 for my CX (12,14,22 only), so 495.00.

I wish I could find somewhere that had one of these on the floor. I'd like to hear the difference from the PDP 22 to 24 bass.

Cool kit, especially the bass drums have much power and boom.
But tell me: How do you like the snare drum? When I tried some Pacific snare drums they sounded and felt so unsensitive and well...just strange. But maybe it was just the bad tuning of the store, how does it sound really?

Hey Karl, Thanks. The snare definitely was not the deciding factor in this kit. I never used my snare with my cx kit(sold it after buying the kit). To me they are weak. I'll probably put it on ebay and stick with my bronze dw or keep to sell with the kit when I upgrade again.
