im planning to buy a new 10" splash. which of the two has more bite? im looking for a very bright splash, but not the b8 type coz theyre too bright and sound like tin cans too much. i thought a zht might give me a bright splash that's decent sounding but ive never heard one. avedis is a very nice splash, i love it, but when you need that uber choked splash effect, its not too bright.

and i have enough money to buy either so price and zht being a intermediate line is off the discussion.

The ZHT is very bright and trashy, but the one i had lasted for about 3 months, but it was only $80 so it wasn't much of a loss. If your'e set on getting a Zildjian, get the Avedis, but if you check out Sabian, definitely give the paragon splashes a look. I have one of those currently and it is very bright and great sounding. Although it is higher priced than the ZHT or the Avedis.

Hope that helps.

If you're looking inexpensive you might want to try the Saludas. They're made from B20 bronze at least so you're getting a better bronze and they're relatively inexpensive. I've always been one that sought the best sound for the money vs brand names though.

I was looking for a splash a while ago and saw the Avedis 10" splash. It's quite loud, so I decided on a 8" for me. The 10" is certainly brighter and louder. The fast splashes are brighter but quieter. The K Custom hybrid splashes I think are supposed to be bright and louder. The Sabian HHX Evolution splashes are really nice as well and popular too. The Zildjian A splashes are fuller sounding than the Sabian AAs though. AAX and A Customs are sort of softer sound because of the brilliant finish and small lathing. I can tell you though that a Avedis 10" splash will be more than enough for anything.

hey if you want to get something out of the norm you might check saluda out. I just got done talking to jamie about getting an 8'' splash that sounds like a splash and not a wattered down crash. I asked for pretty much what you want bright and cutting and jamie hooked me up. It was onlt $58 plus 6 for shipping but still if it sounds like he said it will it will be WELL worth it

Meinl Byzance, I've had mine for about 2 years, I've flipped it inside out by accidentally stepping on it (multiple times, i'm very clumsy), and it's still in great shape, excellent sound! And I only paid 70 bucks for it I think.

I dunno what the durability differences between the 8" and 10" versions are, but I tried both the 8" and like the 10" better -- also, it has a very short sound, I think it's actually "Dry Splash"
