View Full Version : My Bosphorus Setup :)
Now that my New Orleans ride has come, my setup is complete. Many thanks to Tony at cymbalsonly.com for his service. I am so happy with all these cymbals; I just love playing them!
Here are the specs:
14" Traditional dark hats
20" New Orleans ride
22" Traditional thin ride
And for those who may want to know the specs of my kit, it's an Ayotte custom green sparkle, 12x8, 16x16, 24x16, with an Anton Fig snare.
I just realized that I put this in the wrong section of the forum...it should be in Your Gear. oops, sorry.

Wow, that's great. I run Bosphorus cymbals only and IC pedals, and I just wish i could have Ayotte drums. I think I have the same model hats; they're stamped 'medium' but they're really light (986 and 1216 grams) so I think they may be the dark model or at least have a dark top hat. Beautiful hats, the best I've played in my opinion.
Got some more pis of those babies?

Heee! Nice set-up...and wow, Tony does have such a great job, he is a great person and he has a great shop indeed.
However, how do you like the New Orleans Ride? Is it pretty pingy??

Oh, I absolutely love it. It's not really "pingy". It really is, as the description says, a cross between the turk and traditional rides. I wanted something with a little more definition and a dryer sound to compliment my traditional ride, and it's perfect. It's dry yet airy; a complete joy to play. It's a medium-thin weight, so it's not overbearing at all. It fits perfectly with my other ride.

wow, you must be one dang fast runner. Massachusetts is not exactly the closest state to California, lol. But you already have a whole set of turks to play with anyway. :P

all kinds man, lol. I played in a rock n roll band with that kit (very fitting configuration for it). In my own practice, I play everything...jazz, funk, latin, anything that grooves.
I have another pic I can post, but I have to downsize it first.
Love the kit, same setup as me except sizes, My next kit I think is going to be green :-D
P.S. Lets see some more pics!

Yeah, I've seen pics of your kit...sporting the wood hoops on the snare. I love the sound of it. Of course, you built your kit so you might have a slightly bigger attachment to yours. Or maybe not; I LOVE my drums. :P

I always like Bosphorus cymbals. Some day when I get my dream kit, the whole white marine pearl thing, I'll get a set of Traditionals or maybe Hammers. The thing I like about their cymbals is that every one of them sounds good, it may not be the sound you like or want but it still sounds good. So many models from the big companies don't even sound decent in or out of musical context. More pictures would be great...

Amen to that. One of things I really love, unimportant as it is, is that each cymbal is signed underneath the bell by the guy who made it. I managed to get two of my cymbals with the same guys signature, although they were bought separately.
Ok, I got a couple more pics. Sorry for the wait...I had to resize them on my brother's computer.
