Why not just get the Zildjian ride?? If its got the sound you want then a logo that no one will see other than you shouldnt make you change brand.

Yea, really.
names are nothing when it comes to cymbals, just pick what sounds good.

As a starting point, have a look into the Stage series by AAX. medium weight, solid bells - It should get the ball rolling for you.
Another point to consider - Dont be so sold on the sound of the A Custom projection ride. Go into the store with an open mind and you may even find a BETTER sound thatn what you think you want right now.

thanks damo. but the shop doesn't have all the ranges that i would love to try out. just a few. if i really need to get one that he doesn't have, he has to order it from the HQ... but still its a good bargain. :)

What about the Sabian AAX Metal RIde?

That will be brighter and hiigher pitched than the Stage Ride,

Probably a little too thick/focused, and wont play nearly as easily as the Projection ride, although the pitch could prove similar

Ahh fair enough. Is there a way you can play the cymbals he does have at the shop? Even if they dont have quite what you have in mind you can get a good idea from playing the stock he has got. Rather than looking for 1 ride in the AAX line try to play/look at the line in general.
