so i finally decided to get a rack, and halfway through building a custom one, i got one for graduation....

tama rockstar customs in custom mahogany fade

the only cymbals worth noting are my crash ride-20" zildjian from sixties and the 15" hats from sixties

there is a pearl firecracker side snare that goes between the hats and left floor tom, but my freind is borrowing the arm it goes on

Ahh! A fellow Portnoy fan! dude, I like your kit. I was like what! when I looked at the first pic and saw that gap between the Hats and the left floor tom. Are you saving for better cymbals?
I'm gonna get the 14*5.5 Melody Master Snare this summer, and I'll receive In Constant Motion today :D. And I'm a huge, huge Dream Theater Fan aswell!

i am going to get a 16, 17, and 18" hhx evolution crashes this summer, as well as a 21' handhammered raw bell ride and 13" evoultion hats

lol, electrical tape, not very sticky, but when you sweat, it get's kinda humid? (i guess is the word for it) and i wrap them from the top of the grip down to create ridges so they don't end up at my fingertips....and it's cheap

probably an aax x-celebrator set 14" very bright and crisp. or hhx.

You don't have to be that brand-orientated...one zildjian wouldn't hurt.

i already have one zildjian...i don't i don't mind buying from them, they're good cymbals, but if i could stay wih sabian, why not?

and i usually play a simple four peice for gigs and such, but i like to know if i ever need it, i've got it....plus it's not hard to maove because usually it's on a rolling riser that i just roll into an encolsed trailer and tie it down, nothing moves because of memory locks and i bolt the rack to the riser

Ahem, so, what DO you play?

Yes, this is a big setup, but if he's doing that prog-rock stuff, this kind of setup is very common for that genre. Plus, it just looks cool - although I'm glad I don't have to set up this much! Modern hardware has really made it faster to take down and set up this much stuff, however.

i usually play prog stuff (try anyways) but when i play a gig it's usually praise music, so it gets moved to a four peice

it's honestly not bad at all, sure, it could be faster, and easier, but i can live with taking an extra ten minutes, with the rack, it took about an hour off of setup time, i can usually do it in about fifteen minutes if i have to tear it down to move it....

i'm about to sell the drums and build a custom five peice set

very nice stuff man, i like the set up, it must be very comfortable to play, moreover it can be used as example for rookie musicians how to set the kit propertly, looks very sweet, congrats.
