Khanedeliac finally gets his kit out

Yes, its "only" my baby kit, but I scoured the plains high and wide for parts to compile my tiny Frankenstein and I love her dearly. I almost exclusively play this kit and have done for about 7 months now.
Many props to MFB and Karl, who helped me considerably in choosing apt parts for mi preciosa.

Oooh, how much bigger? The 22?

Its amazing, for a couple days I wasnt sure about the sound but Ive come to see that it is so versatile!
Nothing like having your one and only cymbal (not including hi-hats). Pushes your mind a bit more to come up with variations.

I have that snare drum. I bet it compliments this type of mini-kit very well. You should consider putting a evans g2 coated on it.

That ride cymbal really is beautiful, I wish I had an Agop Signature, but I want the 22" model, although I'd happily have the 19" as well for a left side ride. How are those hats? It's a somewhat esoteric kit, but that's the way it should be, and that looks like an exceptionally nice snare, too. Good work!

Ride is amazing, crash and ride all in one with a great character.

Hats are like the hats of yore, the good ones....I can send you a sample. Remind me at some point, ill do it,

Snare needs full passionate use of expletives to be aptly described so I can't quite describe it as Id like but Im much more than happy with it.

Uni is mental man, My movie project is almost done and then just disso and exams...21 days and Im done!

Hey man, thanks for the comments!

The ride is sublime; it is very responsive to how you strike it and therefore a very emotional cymbal.
A gentle tap with the bead of the stick results in a dry, dark tone. A heavier touch brings out more resonance, the bell is quite cutting for a dry cymbal and it crashes amazingly well.
There are also about 3 places you can ride it and get noticeably different sounds. I think Im still discovering things about it!

The snare is just amazing, GREAT GREAT rimshots (perfect for funk and hip-hop), nice texture and the ring can be controlled quite well. The hammering makes it a bit darker than the usual bright tone of metal-shell snares. And its been discontinued now so not too many people have one, which is always nice :)

The shipping for the ride was only 36 dollars in the end and Tony could not have been more helpful. I can definetely see myself grabbing something else off him in future!

When people ask me how mine sounds I either just go crack on it a couple times for them or just describe it as "L.A.F."

btw... are you sure its a 12x4? I know mines a 12x3, and they look the same.

[edit...] After looking at your pics again, your snare is definitely deeper than mine. AND, I just checked ebay, where there used to be 20 or so of these hammered shell snares at any given time, and there is only ONE of them on there right now. A 13x3... Interesting.

Yeah, 12x4. they also made them in 12x5 and 13x3 like you say. they have become RARE babies

And yeah, they have been discontinued so the only people who have any are people with stock left over from their last batch.

Very nice. The only thing I like more than a basic 4 piece is a basic 3 piece with just the time keeping essentials. I've wanted to do this for a while. I feel like while I don't focus alot on chops, I don't focus alot on groove as much as I should either. I spend too much time doing fills and incorporating crash/splash notes.
