I want to - if you're really dense and didn't get it already - learn more linear playing. I've got some examples that are good for learning, and I listen to some jazz/metal that uses linear already... but I want to find more.
I figure jazz is the way to go, but I'm not against other genres. Whatever has some good technical playing that I can listen and pull from.

skaman - I'll check it out, thanks a lot.
franklinj - really? Linear? Chris Pennie uses it a lot, and if I remember, there's a bridge in the song 43% Burnt with the guitar playing a jazz melody and the drums do linear. (It's a heavy song, don't be put off by the intro ;))
As I've learned more about linear - I'm still new at it, but I've been playing drums long enough I pick up things quickly a lot of the time - I've gone back and played my drums more and more frequently. It's so much fun, cause even a simple little backbeat without too much going on sounds so cool.

This is the only site I could find with a bit of text and some examples good for, uh, linear beginners, for lack of a better term.
http://www.drummingweb.com/linear.htm
Also, I found this page. http://www.drumsdatabase.com/drums-linear-drumming.htm
Doesn't look like much off the top, but click Lesson 6. It's a PDF with a bunch of examples, and it's great: non-linear style and a linear version.
Check out the book Advanced Funk Studies by Rick Latham. A lot of it is based on linear concepts and it will really hone your groove at the same time.
