Man, that looks very good. Though I`ve never really played on a Saturn. Which wood is it? And which Ride cymbal do you use?
And what is the difference between Orion and Saturn? I mean, there can`t be many more features for the Orion...or?

Thanks for the kind words...she is a beauty....
Color: Emerald Stardust
As for the specs they are as follow:
22x18 kick
10x9 tom
12x10 tom
14x14 flr tom
16x16 floor tom
5.5x14 snare
Cymbals set up is the following:
14" Sabian pro sonix HH'S
20" Sabian Pro sonix ride
8" Sabian Pro Sonix splash
15" Sabian Pro Sonix crash
16" Paiste RUDE crash
18" Paiste RUDE 3000 SERIES crash
21" Zildjian China LOW boy
10" Wuhan Splash
12" Wuhan china
As for the Saturn shells they are 2 ply maple over 2 ply walnut over another 2 ply maple and very thin shells. I just got it setup last night and i am still in the middle of tuning it, However first impressions are amazing..Real thunderous tones. In comparison to my PDP'S...well there is no comparison as of yet... I cannot wait to have a real chance to play this baby for a while.. I hope to give a good breakdown very soon......I have noticed that i will need to make some cymbal changes shortly... The pro sonix sounded fantastic with my PDP'S but they seem way too bright for a good balance on this kit. The walnut just brings out such deep bass in this kit.. Think it's time for some Sabian hh series cymbals

Sweet! First thought though is this....you said ..."it seems like I've waited a lifetime for this set ..." which would mean to me that you ordered it from Mapex?
Karl,
The Saturn and Orion are different in their makeup of woods,....Orion is thin maple where the Saturn is maple and Walnut for a deep tone! I'd buy a Saturn in a heartbeat!

Congrats McBrain! I never would have guessed you would have sprung for a Saturn, I thought for sure I'd be seeing a Sonor in your future. I am guessing you got a killer deal on the kit, because it is in the emerald green finish which I don't believe they are making for 2007 and also that the bass drum claws are not the newer die cast jobbers they are shipping with the 2007 kits - get it on close out somewhere, or used? The walnut really does enhance the low end doesn't it!?!

Hey Dingbat........
Ya know i was POSITIVE that i had a SONOR in my future as well... But when i heard the Saturn series and saw this particular finish....I fell head over heels in love..... I just cannot believe the low end that i am getting out of this kit right now... And it's still not completely tuned up.... As for the deal.....Yeah i came out on the winning end :-)
Also you are right.. It's a brand new 2006......delivered in the factory boxes and thank god NO DAMAGE to the shells..... Did have a lil ding on a stand but that has been taken care of already..................Cheers

Your kit kind of resembles Chris Adler's kit in this MD 2005 clip.

WOW...someone is happy! :)
Hey...just for clarification from earlier, I asked Mapex about the Saturn...this is the response I received...
The Saturn plys are 4 maple on the outside, two walnut on the inside. The walnut is visible through a clear head.
