Woah just had to burn a hole in that pocket eh?

Anyway, absolutely amazing cymbals you got there. Enjoy those babies, they are good for a life time.

Thanks Smooth Jazz.

Yes they make for a very good combination and compliment each other very well and will be around for a LONG time to come in my collection.

First cymbal purchases since my last set purchased in 1992 and did alot of checking, comparisons, side by side testing and research before settling in on this fine Zildjian combo for gigs, concerts and recording.

hahaha, that's an awesome picture. It's like those stickers of families you see on soccer moms' vans. Although I have become a disciple of truly hand made cymbals (bosphorus represent!), that is definitely a setup to drool over. K Cons are beautiful.

Really had a chance tonight to put this new cymbal set to the test on a piano trio gig tonight. They were totally KILLING on the gig!.

Well packing up at the end of the night the bass player who's played and toured over many years with a wide variety of drummers said to me that in his opinion 90 percent of the cymbals he's heard don't sound that great but these ones he heard tonight sit in his top 10 percent of the best he's ever heard. The musical blend between the cymbals and the other instruments in this trio setting was Heaven to my ears. I agree with the bass player great cymbals Zildjian!.

Well in the context of a musical application which IMHO is what really matters in the long run macmarkus they certainly "had it" .

Jazzin' this was something I was thinking about doing for a long time and decided to proceed forward. It was great fun comparing several cymbals from different cymbal companies over a 2 week period at 3 well stocked local stores to narrow down my choices. I'm really happy with deciding to purchase this new Zildjian set and i'm sure many other fellow musicians I work will also agree as the bass player did last night when they hear the new family down the road in a variety of musical situations.

Ahh man, I understand. It's quite a feeling when you've found your musical accompanists (whether it be people or in this case; cymbals). Sounds great!

Whoah, I was checking out old threads and I found this one. So, did you stop playing your K Con line and switch over to Agop, or do you still play your Zildjians, Steamer?

OOPS, my bad, I found this too:

Well all I can say is since 1992 I had not purchased anything other than sticks and heads and decided to purchase some new cymbals to change things up. Since Zildjian had always been home court for so many years that's where I centered my hunt. The first Agops I heard both in a store and on some gigs didn't do it for me so I decided to go the Zildjian route. Why did I dismiss going Agop originally so quick?. Well several were to thin as main rides I discovered for MY taste so I thought they must all be like that and have a similar sound, wrong!. I went the Zildjian route and was very happy and made it public as you have pointed out which I have no problem with. They are and were good cymbals. It was when I had had a chance to hear some samples of Agops more in the weight range of each type selected to suit my fancy when the whole game changed big time and I realized these were much closer to what I was truly after for new jazz cymbals after all. Did I make a mistake buying the Zildjians hell no they are fine cymbals. Am I happier with the new Agops hell yes since they are closer in line with what I was really after for new sounds to play with.

Had I heard these current samples of Agops before buying the Zildjians this discussion wouldn't be taking place since I would have gone the Agop route first. Live and learn.

Good for you for making the switch.

All sold long time ago Bossa Nova. Been playing nothing but handmade Turkish pies in the way of Istanbul Agop cymbals exclusively since back in July 07. After a few false starts I finally came across samples of various Agops that made me into a complete convert after trying the Zildjian route first. The Zildjians were fine cymbals just discovered for the type of acoustic jazz I play that the hand shaped and hammered Agops came much closer nailing the true character and sound I was really searching for in a new set cymbals.

sweet cymbals man. I got the 22" K Con. med-light hi ride and it's amazing. I'm sure yours sounds just as great. K Cons are my new favourite rides, by far.

Old thread and old news cupcrazy4. Sold all my Zildjians listed on this old thread. Moved into the realm of handmade Turkish Istanbul Agop pies last July as I said yesterday and have never looked back. Found what I was really looking for in cymbal character with the Agops.

I've got a 18" Custom K dark crash that goes with me whenever I need a crash cymbal. When I expand my crash cymbal collection, that's the one I'll bring along to match up with. It's a very versitile cymbal.

The cymbal that replaced the 18" Zildjian K Custom Dark crash listed in this old thread is an 18" Mel Lewis 1982 Crash Ride at 1400g. Best 18" crash i've ever owned period even better than the old standard which I compared all to in the past my old now sold Zildjian pre-aged 18" light ride.
