So, at band practice today I was thinking about how much I would like an 18" crash (and not the song transitions). Just a minute ago I went onto drumgearonline.com to how much it would cost. Lo! and behold, there were two new series choices in the menu -Definitive Jazz, and Ion (and Voodoo Pre-aged, but that's been around for a while). Now, neither of the links work yet, but wowee </Toki>, I can't wait to see them.

I've played a 20" ride from the new jazz series. I ordered one for my father a few months ago as I was getting a diamond crash for myself. A dark airy ride with plenty of wash but still a solid stick sound. A nice ride for sure.

Interesting... I ordered up some hats the other day so we'll see how they sound. Decided against trading in all my pro level cymbals for reman'd Wuhan blanks for now. We'll see if Jamie can make a believer out of me. Right now I'm not super happy because despite having talked several times he can't remember who I am even when I bring up something we've discussed at length in phone calls and emails.

Stop this stuff! All cymbals start with blanks. This has been discussed on here PLENTY and backed up by Jamie, ..Saluda's are NOT reman'd Wuhan blanks. Knock it off please, don't get this crap started again, it's not necessary.

Your attitude right off the bat tells me you're NOT going to like them. And...that's funny what you say, because when I call him, ....I'll say..."Hey Jamie, it's Jeff" ....he knows who I am every time!

I'm not badmouthing them... If they sound good they sound good... end of story. I don't care where the metal comes from. For the most part, metal is metal.
No need to get defensive... I've tried getting in touch with him several times over the past couple weeks and every time he tells me the same thing about getting a trade in proposal. As he did not send it to me despite me asking several times I just went ahead and purchased them anyways because I want to give them a shot. He's been nothing but friendly on the phone but he seems to be a bit disorganized, which is the case with a lot of small business owners. He's busy and I respect that...
If I had made up my mind already I wouldn't have spent money on them now would I? =)

Fair enough.
Your note does come across as a bit condescending, as does the "remanned Wuhan" comment. It's not a true statement and it's been discussed on here plenty and for it to come to the surface again just isn't necessary. Just want to try to stop it before it gets out of hand again, that's all.....not being defensive, just trying to stop the "rumor mill" that always gets going when someone says stuff like that.
And yes, ....Jamie "can" be or seem disorganized ...but to tell you the truth....he's a one legged man in an ass kicking contest most of the time!! LOL :)
Report back when you get them.....I hope you like 'em...I love my hats!!
Bt the way, what did you get ??

The marching orders were 13" Earthworks hats with a bit of a polished look on top... the bottom I don't care about.. probably be dark mist according to Jamie... The sound I'm looking for is Paiste Dark Energy Mark I. Pretty tall order so we'll see if he can pull it off. It'll take a small miracle to pull me away from my Paiste Signatures but I'm always open to new companies and ideas. I'm probably the least brand loyal person you'll ever find. As apparent by my building of my own stuff these days.
Oh.. and I meant the bronze comes from Wuhan China.. the province... not the company.

Apologies for my ignorance, but there is something I don't get. If every cymbal is tailored exactly to your specifications, why does the line it came from matter?

The sound and the finish work hand in hand... Certain finishes or processes will have different results on the final sound when it comes to cymbals.

Each line has it's own sound characteristics. Basically they will customize a particular line whos' tonal starting point is close to what you are looking for, or they will sometimes cross a finish of one line with another line completely to get you what you'd like.
