It's been about 6 months I've been playing jazz, and my style has changed significantly since. I've been listening to alot of cool and bigband, and realized there are other more styles than just swingin'.

So I'm looking for a bunch of examples from the following styles. Please help me out. Some tunes, artists or albums would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help.

-jazz time-'2' feel
-shuffle
-samba
-songo
-mambo
-afrocuban 6/8
-bossa nova

Obviously I'm really concentrating on afro cuban times. Thanks again guys.

Sorry if I made it unclear. What I meant is if anyone know any good examples to ANY of the styles I listed, not all of the styles, please tell me.

Samba...
Donald Fagen, "The Goodbye Look" (Jeff P on drums).
Brandon Fields, "Old San Juan" (Carlos Vega)
Chick Corea, "Samba Song" (Steve Gadd)

Songo...
Luis Conte, "Krimson and Khaos" (Carlos Vega)
Paquito d'Rivera, "Gdansk" (Dave Weckl)
Arturo Sandoval, "Groovin' High" (Orlando Hernandez)

Afro Cuban...
The Yellowjackets, "It's Almost Gone" (Ricky Lawson)
Al Jarreau, "Blue Rondo A La Turk" (Steve Gadd)
Pquito d'Rviera, "Wapango" (Joel Rosenblatt)

Mambo...
The Jackson 5, "ABC" - There's a bit towards the end of the song where the drummer plays some mambo.

Hope that helps, got this pretty much straight from Behind the Backbeat (Berklee Press).

Samba: "Mas que nada" - Al Jarreau -- Tenderness (Steve Gadd)
Any Jorge Ben recording (for example, the same "Mas que nada" on Samba Esquema Novo)

I recommend getting a copy of "The Drummer's Bible."

This book has tons of rythms written out and you can hear them on the included cd.

I use this book from time to time to brush up on forgotten rythms.

You can get from Amazon.
