I'm with nickg on this one... Paiste Signature (the sound formulas are pretty much the same cymbals.. just discontinued) has a great bright sound... They're not inexpensive but they do have a great sound.

My favourites would be Sabian AAX, Zildjian A Custom...and Istanbul Mehmet Traditionals.

Another one would be the Anatolian Baris line. Once I tried them in a music store and I liked them. Good for the money, if you have the chance to try them, try them. ;-)

But what kind of bright sound do you wanna have exactly?
More of a shimmering? A trashy bright sound? Or just with powering bright overtones?

Do you want a trasy bright sound or a a cymbal with bright overtone.

Trashy bright = Istanbul Mehmet Traditionnal like I say
Bright overtone cymbals = Zildjian A custom , Sabian AAX line or Paiste 2000 line.

the sabian vault crashes and hihats are crazy expensive but are also bright to the point of hurting sometimes. brightest things i've ever heard.

you're assuming he's talking about crashes. he's more likely referring to a ride or hats

Another vote for A customs. I have a 14" fast crash, and its suppper bright. Check out the fast crash lines for crashes, ping ride for a ride, and mastersounds for hats.

As for chinas, WUHAN!

I mean with the tip, like you would on a ride, I have a 17in A custom and if i ride on it ( with the nylon tips )( not bashing on it, soft rebounds ) I get this really bright sound. Hard to explain

I think everyone's given good ideas as well as questions, a lot of it depends on your definition of "Bright" and what other characteristics you want to go along with that. Sabian B8s might be a good inexpensive choice, as well as the Dream Cymbals. Otherwise I'd prob suggest add Meinl Sound Casters Customs to the lists already presented. Depending on what kind of sound your looking for a B8, B10, B12 alloy would probably do you better than a B20 alloy (in general terms) and a Brilliant finish would be better over a Traditional finish with a B20 alloy. http://www.meinlcymbals.com/4/ has a pretty good site that has some clips where you can change the fly what cymbals are used in a drum beat to hear the differences.

As for my contribution i'dd say don't look further than te discription of the sound. Try the sabian AA bright crash. You can only get it in16" but it's an amazing cymbal. It's the first crash i bought and i love it.

i love the paiste signatures for bright stuff especially the power crashes....
