A LOT. $2239 to be exact. Plus you have to buy everything else you need to make a midi controller work.

They have this MIDI controller that is like an organ pedal board. I've wanted one of those on my kit for a long time to play drones with my left foot. I think they are only a couple hundred, but you will still need a synth or sound module to plug it into (I assume you already have an amp).

You can buy a Yamaha Midi Keyboard and play Marimba sounds but not much else I've
seen for 200.00

I was pricing one a while back since I've taken the plunge into mallet percussion, but yes they were too expensive for my tastes too. There is a lighter and smaller aluminum version as opposed to the full size MalletKat, but it isn't in the price range you're looking for. You also need a audio bank to plug in so you have sounds when you hit it which, for a decent one, is well upwards of $250. The way I see it is, if you really want to get involved and hone your skills with this instrument and it will be used more frequently than for just a few songs/pieces, then save up and buy it. Since I've started on the mallets I've begun to understand the rest of the workings of the music in the rest of my band (both the school band and my own). So if you can save up, go for, but remember this is a professional instrument the same as lets say a custom maple drum set is. Hope this helps!

yeah more cost effective but prob not loud enough to play with with my set and stuff. and if i had that wouldn't i have to switch to mallets? it wouldn't be good for it to use sticks on it?
i could mike it but idk.........looking for electric to so maybe it comes with other sounds.
