the following are some partially finished tracks. some don't have all the instruments in them, including vocals, and some haven't been mixed nor have they had the levels finished.. i had the raw tracks in garage band and was just playing with them, so bare with me. We recorded in all seperate tracks, we had the guitar play into my headphones when i was recording.

hope you like. please don't kill me about these, there not amazing Yet*

let me know what you think though :)

there will be better ones and more to come, we have about 14 songs that are in pieces now.

oh and we recorded with my yamaha stage customs with stock heads. and i used my supraphonic snare.

the first track is good, i like the mood but you are probably a little busy with the cymbals for me. The second is a much better performance. Like the fills on both songs.

thanks alot! and agreed about the busyness. that was the first one we recorded, and i was a little shaky on recording with only a guitar in my headphones.

thanks man.

so anyone else have anything to say? i will post the finished version of both these songs soon, i have a bunch more that are really cool, one jazz ish song where we throw in a harder rock kinda course, and i did some double pedal, really big contrast.

thanks to all who are listening.

PS----> take note that on the Tide at about 3:30, the drums cut then come back in, thats my crappy editing, cause i had to take out an extra crash that was outta place. i didn't bother bringing it down slowly HAHA. so thats not a finished product at all. i may redo this drum track completely, what are you guys thoughts on the bells, i think they sound bad, and i think they sound alot better on the lemon song, what are your guys thoughts?

i'm gonna be redoing the tide drums tomorrow, because the drum sound isn't up to snuf, and my playing could be alot better and less busy, simple is key when recording i have found. and consistent.

lots have listened, let me know what you think.
do you like the drum sound? etc?

I liked the Tide a lot (only one I listened to). You don't need to fill every two measures, It's better to make your fills more unpredictable so people don't think your boring. Everything sounds goo, except the bass sounded a little... different? Not initially bad but just different. Good job on the recordings.

hey man thanks for the input. the thing being is that was the first drum track we did, still working out the kinks, it was also the only time we recorded in the sanctuary of the church, so the sound is kinda weird. i am gonna be re recorded this song tomorrow. the fills are bad in my opinion. glad you liked it though. i will get a finished track of it up this weekend maybe, with proper vocal levels etc.

just an update, This song is seemingly dificult to record over in an un live environment. The tempo changes are killing me. we did a bit of recording today, but we didn't have enough time to get a good take of this and do some other guitar stuff. so I won't be able to have another go at it until sunday. Oh and a metronome is not gonna work for this song, because it slows down/speeds up often. I although know what im changing, i am making fills more simple and similar to each other, and keep the simple stuff really simple with a few hi hat opens every bar or 2. I find it MUCH easier to record with my guitar player playing into headphones in the same room as i am, so we feed off each other musically then we add guitar and bass and vocals after, its been working great for us.

let me know if you have any advice.

thanks....

I am listening to Tide right now--overall you have a very musical style of drumming. The only recommendation that I would offer is one that I have gotten myself many times--it is to try not to over play the song, sometimes the funkiest thing you can do is just really get "in the pocket" and play flawless time, then at the opportune time you come out and shine--and I can tell that you're good.

Means alot to me man. i've been playing for a little over a year now. And yes agreed about the over playing. I am working on it right now, read the post above. thanks again.
