Hey guys, im ordering a lot of drumstuff online tomorrow, and just wanted to discuss my choice of cymbals. i plan to get...
13" A custom hi-hats [regular]
16" A custom fast crash
20" K ride [regular]
What do you think? would this combination work well together? any suggestions?
thanks!

I play a combination of A customs and K's. I do think they work well together. The A custom fast crashes are bright with a short decay. I have the AC 15, 17, and 18" fast crash. They do cut. And, I do like them. I play a 20" K ride -- the exact cymbal you are going to order. It's a good ride, although some on the forum prefer the K Custom ride. I'd listen to both and go with the one you like. I used to play A custom hats, but found that they did not cut and had poor wash. I am back to my 15" A mastersounds. Just make sure the 13" hats will have enough presence for the music you are playing. Have a good time playing your new stuff!

Hey, thanks Golions, thats some great advice! Good to here that someone else uses a combination of these cymbals, and that they work out well! How do you find that 20" K? Versatile? The K custom is much heavier i believe?

Sounds perfect! What kind of music do you play?

I would consider a K Custom Ride (just bought one) and aking that A Custom a regular crash. Fast crashes are not very substantial (just sold one) and they are one sided to me. You would get more expression, volume, and control out of a heavier weight cymbal.
Think about the quick beats for the hats?
K's and A's work hand in hand. Thats what i play. Although i must admit (i am a die hard zildjian), Sabian vault crashes are cheaper and way smoother than A customs. Thats why i bought one of those recently too......

I am going to disagree with the Quickbeats suggestion. Honestly man, I have a pair and hate them! They sound like B8s....not even kidding. Buying them was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made.

Hey there thanks for the helpful comments! I play a mix of stuff, my style is mainly quite "hip hop" in a sense, but i play a lot of rock and funk also. I was considering the regular a custom crashes, but i always thought they sounded much heavier and didnt project as well? I love how the fast crashes almost shimmer and the sound is so open, and not choked at all! Maybe im wrong haha, prove me wrong please!! i just want the best cymbals i can get!

Never had a problem with my A custom projecting. For the styles you play it seems good. If you played much more rock i'd make the hats 14 and crash 17 but for the styles you play you'll have some very versitile cymbals
