Now, since i'm going to get a job this summer, and save the cash for a completely new set-up. It will be as follows:

Tama set perferably; in Jet Black with Jet Black hardware
2x 22-18 kicks
11-9, 12-10, 13-11 rack toms
16-16, 18-18 floor toms

Heads;
2x 22" Powerstroke 3 kick heads
5x Coated Ambassador heads for toms
1x Coated or Pinstripe head for snare

Cymbals;
18" Zildjian Oriental Trash China
18" K Custom Dark Crash
17" K Custom dark Crash
Possibly a 16" Projection crash
6" Zil-Bel
12" Zildjian Trashy Splash
20-22 Rock, Ping, or Earth ride

As much as i've researched and set my mind on this set-up, only one question remains:
What snare?!?

I've heard much about Black Panther, Pork Pie, and the Warlord snares.I definitely want something with a solid crack to it, but also with some warmth in the resonance, something that has attitude, but not enough to irritate me, maybe a 14-6.5 or 7.0, I just can't seem to find what i want. I'm also looking for a snare that not only sounds badass, but looks the part, like color and hardware. Suggestions?

Personally, I'd go for 8", 10" and 13" rack toms, since they would be easier to tune into different pitches. And how about resonant heads for the toms? Are you planning to go with the originals? As for the main question, how about a Tama Starclassic maple? It's a great all-rounder, and it will work anywhere, anytime.

Since you have plenty of time - try to get to a drum shop and play as many as you can. The Starclassic G-maples are awesome, but for the price of one of those (or one of the Warlord's) you have a lot of options. I would think that a 6-1/2" Supraphonic or Black Beauty should be on your list too - it would be hard to go wrong with one of those, but maybe not as bad-ass looking as you want.

Yea, Black Beautys always caught my eye...

Seriously... check into buying a custom stave snare. You're going to get one awesome crack on a stave setup. Plus you're supporting members of the community. =)

Sound files on some staves: http://www.artisandrumworks.com/hear-it/ (I'm not endorsing them as I've never used Artisan) but I'm just opening up your mind to other possibilities. Too many people get hung up on brand names and miss out on awesome stuff.

you did not mention the hats in your cymbal list, not that it matters for the discussion, but it makes the list complete :)

Well, I'm thinking of either Dyno hats, or just some Avedis or Z Customs, I want something with a great chick, a nice swish when its closed, and a clean sound when they're open, any suggests?

11-9, 12-10, 13-11 rack toms

Do you mean a 10" rack tom?

Personally, I'd go the 10x8, 12x9, 14x10 for toms so you have even intervals the whole way through to your 18".

I'd go for the Meinl MB20 hi-hats. Probably the most musical heavy hats ever. Check them out at www.meinlcymbals.com
