OK, i know there are probably other threads about this, but i need some specific advise. I have a AAX Metal ride, which is way to heavy for my folk rock band. I want to upgrade to a K ride, but am unsure. I would love to look at them and hear them for myself, but i cant find a store that stocks more than a few models. I am looking for somthing not too dark and with some good wash (tried the custom dry and did not like it)
please tell me your experiences and help me make my dream of K ownership become a reality!

go for the "normal" k ride ... i'd prefer 20", just the one i bought one week ago, cause i want an alternative to my cons ride.
it's (the k) a very versatile, nice ride which is also crashable (right term?).
look and here shawn's k ride in action ... http://drummerworld.com/Videos/Shawnpelton.html

I know there are at least 3 of us on this board who own 22" "Regular" K rides. I'm happy with mine, and I know the others are happy with theirs. Of course you will be wanting to try them out, but there's a definite suggestion.

i would also go for a K Ride (20" or 22")....Personally, I would get the 20" especially if you are playing folk music. Listen to sound clips on zildjians website to compare and make your decision if you can't play them in person. I would recommend playing them yourself for an accurate sound of the cymbal.

I have a prototype K custom regular ride, which works well for any kind of playing, and sounds like what you're looking for. I know that the production line ones will probably sound different from mine, but i'd suggest checking them out. Plus they don't seem to be very popular for some reason (people like the pretty circles from lathing?), so most stores sell them fairly cheap.

So i ended up buying a "used" (which wsa donated by Omar Hassan and used once) on craigslist. I only paid 150!!!!!!, seriously not even a stick mark. the sound is unreal! almost went with an A ride but the K is just the best thing ever created.
thanks all! great responses, i'll post some updated pics in the near future!

I played with my band withe the ride for the first time last night. It is definitly geared to softer music, it does not have too much "ping" but alot of wash and the bell is not super defined. I think it is the most perfect all around ride i have tried so far. Also, it crashes really well and resonates for a long time, it can really double as a second, dark crash.
