Hey, i recently was overseas at my home country and been using the drum kit i have over there n my drum teacher said to me that ive been using a great cymbals. they looked old to me but he said it is an avendis cymbal. but, zildjians are called avendis zildjians dont they? and most cymabl has engraved "avendis" as well. is that the avendis series or just a zildjian avendis which could be anything?

does anyone know about this issue?

another thing, i also have zildjian bronze, what is that? is that like a zbt or something?

Are you asking if avendis is correct...its Avedis, with no "n". Other than that I dont understand the question. Sorry.

Yes, it;s 'Avedis'. If the cymbal says Avedis on it, it's surely a Zildjian - Avedis is what the A stands for in the A and A Custom range.

The bronze cymbal. What is it? A poor cymbal (sorry, couldn't resist). MAy well be Zildjian, they consistently put out budget bronze cymbals under different line names. Scimitar, zbt??
Best advice - replace it.

The Zildjian Bronze series was before the ZBTs it was kinda like the Platinum and Edge. Essentially an experiment with b8 alloys in creating a mass producable cymbal to compete with Paiste, Sabian. These are better than the ZBTs of today I think but aren't the best of sound in the Zildjian palette.

sorry if my question is not clear and spelled avedis worng. im not asking if it is a zildjian or not, asking if it is the avendis series. coz i thought that zildjian is called "zildjian avedis" as i seen these in their cymbals including the zbt.

without a pic of the cymbal, i can't really tell, I'm still a little foggy about what the situation is.
If it was an old cymbal, and your instructor said it was an Avedis Zildjian cymbal, it probably was. The Avedis on the engraved logo means that it is an A Series cymbal, which is a good cymbal. So it sounds like you've been playing with some good, vintage Zildjian A cymbals!

AHHH-VEEEE-DUSSS..... A-v-e-d-i-s ...there is no "N" in Avedis.

Usually .... when someone says Zildjian Avedis, they are refering to the the A series line ....I believe this "lingo" started after the A Custom line came into play to verbally separate the two lines when speaking about them........

I'm not totally clear on what your asking, but I hope this helps. To the best of my understanding (please someone correct me if I'm wrong at all), Avedis Zildjian was the American answer the Kerope Zildjian. These were two essentially different companies under the same name. They had relatively different cymbal making techniques that yielded relatively different styles of cymbal. K. Ziljdjian was eventually bought by A. Zildjian in 1968. The differences in the cymbals production set the precedent for what would later be the current A. and K. lines (the "modern" style Ks didn't come around until the 80's).

So what you could have been playing were "Old A's."

Hope this helps.

P.S. "AHHH-VEEEE-DUSSS." Pretty harsh man.

IF it really is spelt with an 'n', that might suggest it's an attempt at a conterfeit, as in Rollex for Rolex. Get some pics up.

Never heard of such a thing in the cymbal world though....

NO harshness intended! He was told 2x , then spelled it with an "N" again....all I did was try to do a phoenetic 'sound out' of the word ....nothing more, nothing less...

I disagree, not harsh at all...I was just trying to help

you do realize that this is a multi-racial forum with people who cant read english very well? give him a break...

Essentially, all zildjian cymbals are avedis. avedis isnt a line of the zildjian company, its more or less part zildjian's name.

i think.
