I don't want to offend either, but I respect the point dannypenalver is trying to make, because it comes from a good place with no hard feelings intended.
I have found what he describes to be a common trait among those in possession of obvious deficiencies themselves...on all music forums. I think you will find that most who post audio and video are seldom defensive about negative criticism that is not couched in some other issue. But there apparently lies the rub.
The minute I see someone giving blow by blow descriptions of your problems with little or no the other stuff, then I almost automatically block them out, regardless of their command of language. Besides, most times their problems are almost always artistic differences that come from those who think there is only a right or wrong artistic path, or a failure to get personal attention themselves. And the moment you call them on their own stuff, they lose it almost 100% of the time...wanting to analyze you, read your mind, make wild assumptions etc...while at the same time forgetting that their own presumption and negativity fueled the fire to begin with. Then in some /not all/ cases, when they post their own stuff and get no views they wonder why. When they go on other forums not as friendly as this one...they're destroyed.
When drummers post stuff on these subforums, it's usually for determining reaction to something you're working on at the time. And some of that as we know can be a hit or a miss. Still it's cool that this stuff is available for your ideas to be viewed by hundreds of people almost immediately...very cool indeed.
I hate to say it, but it's probably not advisable for beginners to seek life defining advice on a forum. You should try to find a living breathing teacher for that at best, or an instructional DVD at least. Problem is, some of the quickest to tell you how it is are among the least qualified to do so. I mean there's no way of knowing who's who unless you spend a lot of time reading posts. I mean for all we know you could be Jim Chapin incarnate or an unemployed pothead with television and computer stationed on opposite ends of his couch.
There are several very present members here for example who have been around forums long enough, and/or have some verfiable background. And it's always a pleasure to see they're around when you post something, even if you know they're not going to like your direction. Personally, expertise wise I've always confined my comments to endurance/chops building issues and jazz trivia tiebreakers because I feel I'm out there enough in those areas to demonstrate credibility, or am surrounded by others who are. I value real educators who actually pay their dues to be called that, so I'm not gonna lather up a lot of educational mumbo jumbo that is beyond my own actual thinking.
Having your video/audio slammed on a drum forum is no big deal as long as the criticisms come from a good place, or are simply misunderstandings. I think most harbor no hard feelings, even if they feel their intentions were misunderstood. Yet if there was a misunderstanding, most times the person who submitted the music knows it was due to his/her's failure to communicate.
I have certainly been guilty of overreaching for a concept I was not prepared to present, and will be the first to admit it. With that in mind, you simply attempt to explain your position, learn from the experience, and then post something with better resonance that still honors your artistic integrity. A lot of people on forums, that subgroup I call the peacemakers often misinterpret an artistic defense with thin skinned getting your feelings hurt stuff, but there really is a difference.
Again, I'm not interested in stirring hornets' nests today. But dannypenalver's comments got me thinking about something I had always observed with an equal amount of curiosity and irritation.
BTW, I had no problems hearing the examples.

That was really wonderful!!!! Your left hand is very powerful, I could hear all the rim shots clearly, and you played all the accents exactly with the band, just like friend how our dear radeq does!
Wait a minute, what am I saying... I didn't even check out whatever it was you posted, 'cause you deleted it..

Forgive me... I had no idea who I was dealing with here.. I bow down in your presence, Jeroen, and Radeq, king of the rimshots. Someday, if I keep on believing, I'll be able to execute clear rim shots just like the both of you!
Don't get me wrong.. I can definitely take critism, only that I choose to be very light hearted about it. Life is too short for us to be grumpy and negative throughout our lives.. God loves us all, good drummers as well as bad drummers (like me).. Have a nice day!
Shalom.

I'm going to post my last thing about this, in a good positive mood btw.
I don't and did not want to come over as negative if you might think that, the part about the rim shots was an example of which I think that you could have done better.
And I do believe you can take critisism.
"God loves us all, good drummers as well as bad drummers (like me)"
when people, in this case you, are saying they are a bad drummers, they are fishing for compliments which you don't need because you get them enough I think, whether it's about your looks or drummin skills.
try to judge any form of critisism on a forum posted by someone in a good positive mood, even when it comes accross(sp?) as negative to you and I do this also when someone is only saying the bad things and not the good things. You'll look different to someone's opinion and for me it only adds to the value of the critisism.
c ya,
Jeroen

Believe me.. she can take critique...it's only the non-sense, non-constructive critique that she has a problem with like radeq's orinal post that started all this. I'm on youtube all the time checking out vids and when i see totally ignorant criticism that has an agenda having nothing to do with helping or offering suggestions, but just to slam someone to try to make themselves seem all-knowing... i'm always the one to critique that critic. In this case he gave a totally false statement then in a later reply, admitting "ok, i understand, also what should be in that section, i heard that song fromweckl, but it was already long time ago....".... and you then say you agree 100% with his original post. Please. This is just ridiculous.
ps. I know first hand she has a bachelors degree in music, teaches and lectures at a drumming college and plays in 3 other bands including a jazz band and an orchestra...totally makes her living playing and teaching music... and you say she's holding her grip wrong. Ha Ha... Priceless!!!

This is exactly what I've been trying to say, from the start.. thanks Shogun!! :) But, whatever... you know? I'm sure you (Jeroen) or radeq are just gonna post another reply in response to this. Im ready for it! God is with us all...
However, I don't have a degree.. only diploma. And I certainly play in a lot more bands than just 3 haha
Btw, Jeroen, you look kinda like Justin Timberlake, when they were still signed to that German label. And with black hair.
So where's your video/audio? We're all dying to see it!
