It looks like Emerald Onyx to me from their website. Its from the Finish Ply line.

Bottom right corner....one drum up. http://www.dwdrums.com/drums/custom.htm

Or it may be a stain over the Bubinga, where did you get the drum??

Looks to be the Kurillian Birch with Emerald Stain. You can see the grain is very similar on this picture: http://www.dwdrums.com/drums/toms/exotic/EX-Rgl-to-Nat-Kurillian-w-G.jpg
Hope this helps.

Are you saying you bought the set without knowing what the finish was or was this a quiz?

Is it me or does this have a burst look to it?

I dont think it would really matter, if he loved the look of the kit and it is a good (which its DW so its more than good) then he should get it regardless of knowing the name of its color lol

The lady I bought it from had no clue what she was selling. She only knew it was exotic. The color was perfect "jewel green burst" or something like that.
For the price I got it at, the exotic veneer type was inconsequential.

Just an update, I found out today that the finish is in fact....
"Hard Maple"
It was an exotic finish in 2004. It is no longer available.

Why dont you contact Mr Lombardi at DW Drums.com and ask him?
When in doubt, it does not hurt to ask the ones who made the drum.

I did email customer service at DW with my drums' serial #. It took about 3 hours for them to get back to me.
I will be posting pics this afternoon!
