Hey guys, I REALLY need a new snare drum because mine is a piece of crap so I'm gonna buy a new one I have about $350 and I WILL spend it all on a new drum... what is a decent drum for that much?

Ludwig Acrolite or Supraphonic -- you can't go wrong with those two. Search for a good second hand deal, and you can easily buy one for $350.

Ok I want a relatively loud drum with ALOT of crack and snap too, would those snares above be like that?

You'll never go wrong with a Ludwig 400!!......I've got maple one and a brass one. Both 14x5!...They tune easily, they sound amazing and they suit any genre!

The yamaha nouveau snare (brass) in 13x6.5 is a good one. You can tune it down, or up and have that crack to it because of it's 13inch head diameter. It's very versatile, has a great rimshot sound, and is very loud. I have it along with a tama performer snare, and the yamaha is by far my favorite. You can't beat hands on experience though, go to a guitar center and bang on every model they have out, thats how I found mine.

The nouveau should run around $370, you can bargain for less though.

I sold my VP snare and bought a 6.5 x 14 Supraphonic.

Best sounding snare I have ever heard.

Absolutely wonderful.

I bought mine new on eBay for 300 shipped to my door.

Sorry fella, the Joey Snare is Pearl no Tama. There are also 2 Mike Portnoy snares, steel and maple aren't they? I can't remember offhand.
