View Full Version : Bos ride coming in the mail!
Today I ordered a Bosphorus 22" Traditional Thin Ride from Cymbals Only. I cannot wait to get it!!! It should come by next Monday, and I will definitely post some pics. I've been drooling over these things on the site for so long now. I'm so happy that I'm actually getting one now. I'm planning on getting a whole set of them eventually...the turkish hand-mades sound sooo much better than the "big 3", especially zildjian (why pay $500 for a machine-made constantinople when you can get a better sounding cymbal for way less?).

Congrats man! I'm sure you'll be happy with it. I myself have a couple of Bos plates making their way to me. I just landed an endorsement deal and I put my first order in last week--a 22" Antique ride and some 14" Traditional dark/thin hats. yum.

Very cool guys! Besure and post some reviews for us to check out! Isn't this the company Jeff Hamilton owns or something like that? Or am I thinking of another company?

I read an article about Bosphorus, and if I remember correctly he's part-owner of their american distribution or something like that. I could be wrong.

Yup, Hamilton is part owner of the company, along with the president, Michael Vosbein. They took over a few years ago and I think the brand has really taken off since then.

im in the process of getting new hats and ride. for rides i was looking at a K custom ride (20") or maybe even a hybrid ride. but all the talk about bosphorus has made me think that i may as well try them out. im looking for a ride for playing indie/rock music which ride(s) could anyone recommend bosphorus wise? I hope you love your new cymbal.

Check out the Bosphorus Gold Series. The company is, of course, known for great jazz cymbals but they're also endorsed by some non-jazz drummers, including Rikki Rockett (Poison), Kurt Sodergren (Big Bad Voodoo Daddy) and Ron Welty (The Offspring).

tomodrum, check out the gold series ride. It's an awesome sounding cymbal. If you decide to stick with zildjian, I use their 20" K custom dry ride and the bell is killer!! You might dig that...the 20" dark ride is really washy....I have one and use it as a secondary crash to my 18" bos. gold crash (I use a 17" bos gold fast crash as my splash cymbal)....the dark ride is def. more of a jazz ride.

I'm running Bos traditional 20" heavy ride, 16" med crash and 14" med hats and I love them. I agree on the comment regarding cost and quality in comparison to the big three. I also love how each cymbal is signed by the master cymbal artisian who made/checked it over in turkey. I managed to get two of my three with the same signature.

If you're anti-wash then I'd suggest checking out the Bosphorus Turk series. They're really dry and dark, and have heavier weights available.

Agreed. My 20" Medium Turk Ride doesn't have much wash at all and is very dry and dark. Tony @ cymbalsonly.com can special order heavier models too if that's what you're looking for.
