Has anyone had a problem with this? I have a Ludwig Accent CS Custom Elite drumkit and all the things that you use to tighten the drum legs and the tom mounts, bass drum legs and everything are like...getting stripped. Actually my dad said they're cross threaded or something like that(can't remember). It'd be one thing if it was just one of them but i'm up to about 5 of these that don't work right, if my tom mounts get any worse I won't be able to mount my toms. What should I do with these, I can't even twist the little buggers cause its harder than heck to twist(my dad couldn't either). What's with this, anyone have this problem, any suggestions on what to do?

Do you still have warranty???

I would e-mail Ludwig with your problems...most companies have fair to good customer service

definitely email ludwig. but if you're not totally in love with the kit you could always use it for an excuse to buy a new kit ;-)

I don't even think I got a warranty with this. Do you think this'll make a difference, and yes to moe.ron, I am in love with this kit.

You should have at least a year on hardware....how old is the kit???
Where did you buy it from?

I bought it like a year and a half ago from Music123.com or musiciansfriend, I don't remember which.

Just a couple of hints. How long has this issue been going on...? And if its most of the hardware I would still get with Ludwig. Now just to make sure, Your not cranking down on stuff that much are ya. Cause cast stuff will strip. Now if the the stuff was cross threaded, Have you been totally removing the fasteners? If not then they were either crossthreaded from the factory, or the shop that may have assembled them. Both of those things just dont sound to plasible to me however. Crossthreading is easy to do with some stuff. But unless you did that by removing them, then they were crossthreaded from the start. If they were crossthreaded, you can tell that pretty much. Cause there would have been quite a bit of force required to tighten the stuff. Ludwig is a pretty good company so you should really get with them to see what they recommend.

Wish ya luck with this.

Warranty Information for Ludwig
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maple and birch drum sets (drums only) - 3 year warranty.
Marching and tympani drums - 3 year warranty.
Sticks and hardware - one year warranty.
Cases - one year warranty.
Accent Drum line - one year warranty.

I don't know if Ludwig will cover crossthreading unless it was on their part, but they're usually pretty good about service, so it won't hurt to check. plus blame it on them if possible, unless you were the one who put all the screws that have the problems in wrong, then you might have a bit of a predicament, but it shouldn't be too expensive if its only 5 parts.

Ludwig claim they will from now on, offer one of the best customer service there is. So this may be the first step to prove it... Tell them that ;-)

I would definately contact Ludwig, I hope they help you out. I own a Ludwig kit also and I haven't had any problems contacting them with questions. For future reference though, I don't know if this would have helped you in your particular situation or not. But any time I change my drum heads I lube up all of the tension rods and any thing else that has threads to deal with. Keeping those threads lubed up can prevent a lot of problems down the road, I use just standard petroleum jelly on mine or WD-40.

Well thats the weird thing is the fact that It just all of a sudden happened at one. They all didn't get screwed up one at a time, they all got screwed up at the same time. They won't untighten at all and my dad said i'd probably have to use some pliers and work them, but that freaks me out that I might break something in the tightener-thingy itself.

I would contact Ludwig and see about getting replacements. You haven't had the kit that long and they should be covered under warranty.

I had a Ludwig Rocker kit years ago and the exact same thing happened. Toms would slip, and I had a floor tom leg that would slip and in fact collapsed on a gig once.

I have the Ludwig accent custom elite's as well and I have not experienced this problem.
There are a couple of snare lugs that don't really feel clean when you tighten them but they all work. The threads are just not as smooth as my new Ludwig supraphonic snare.

The only other issue I have which is very minor is that the chrome started to come off one of the cymbal stands wing nut.

I would contact Ludwig like the other folks have suggested. You could claim that it was tight when you got them and it just got worse over time.

Good Luck, they are good kits......

I have had MANY issues with both the Accent and Classic Birch series from Ludwig:

1 - Easily stripped hardware
2 - Noisy lugs (I had to stuff them with cotton)
3 - Uneven wraps
4 - Completely uneven bearing edges

Needless to say, I no longer play Ludwig drums.
